Guys
We will visiting Vegas the begining of October. We have managed to get a flight with BMI but with a short lay over in Chicago.
We have heard that the flight from Manchester to Chicago may not be BMI themselves but a ';partner'; airline.
We realise that this will be the case for the internal part of the journey. Can any one out there enlighten us. I know the straight through flight is BMI but with all the terrorist threats I realise that things may be a it confusing.
Also any one who has used this flight since the threat could they tell me if they were able to get through USA homeland security
at Chicago in time for the LAs VEgas connection
BMI Manchester-Chicago-Las Vegas
BMI are part of the Star Alliance network so it will probably be with one of their members. When we flew to vegas on United Airlines our connecting flights from Manchester to Heathrow were on BMI so it will probably work the other way round.
We flew before the terrorist threats but we had plenty of time to get to our connecting flights when we flew Heathrow - Chicago - Las Vegas.
BMI Manchester-Chicago-Las Vegas
The partner will be United. Their flights have what is called %26#39;codeshares%26#39; with BMI which means that all BMI flights have a United number and vice versa. In terms of your getting to Vegas it%26#39;s totally irrelevant who%26#39;s name is painted on the side of the plane.
There have been a couple of lengthy threads on this forum this week about connecting from international flights in Chicago. Do a forum search to see a lot of posts you%26#39;ll find useful. Providing your stopover at Chicago is two hours or more you should be ok.
I%26#39;m doing a flight with American with a very similar profile, so perhaps this is the codeshare...
I am also flying with BMI on the 22nd October from Manchester with a stop in Chicago. Our travel agent told us we will be with BMI from Manchester to Chicago (BD705) and then United from Chicago to Vegas (UA1407). The thing i am not to sure about is where do you go through immigration is this in Vegas or Chicago.
We are lucky enough to have a direct flight back from Vegas to Manchester with BMI.
You have to clear US Immigration and US Customs at your fist port of entry in the US - in this case Chicago.
As the US Chicargo is your 1st stop on foreign soil so to speak you will need to go through imigration there. As you will come in through domestic arrivals in Las Vegas
we did this route in march
you fly bmi manchester-chicago go thru immigration etc then go to different terminal for connection with uniTED
the flight going was fine we had 3 hours til the connection but coming home was a nightmare as the flight from vegas was delayed and we had to run for our lives to catch the connection!!
we are going back in dec and have booked direct flights with bmi man-vegas too much hassle connecting and 1/2 day extra in vegas at start and end!!
good luck you will love vegas!!
Just make sure if time is tight that you are near the front of the que for passport control, as it is horrendous and we found it moved so slowly. We were near the front but the girl infront of us was extremely attractive and the guy took ages with her. We had to run like crazy to get our connection and made it with 5mins to spare, our luggage didnt and followed on another flight an hour and a half later!!!! very annoying. We had only been given 1 hour 45 min from landing to take off again which is not long enough. The BMI flight was our best ever flight, the American Airlines flight WASNT, enough said I think.
Hi
I%26#39;m going in 4 weeks time and flying Manchester to Vegas via Chicago with BMI but the internal flights are with United.
I am worried because my connection time in Chicago is only 1hr and 25 mins and I%26#39;m almost certain that I%26#39;m going to miss my connection.
I%26#39;ve been in touch with BMI and they say that if I do miss the connecting flight, they have to put me on another but might not be United. I%26#39;m just hoping that I%26#39;m not going to wait for hours!!
You%26#39;ll love Vegas!!!!
Girls dont worry too much about it and please dont let it spoil the build up to your holiday, one thing is for certain and that is that they HAVE to get you there one way or another and I wouldnt worry about it not being a United internal flight I didnt rate them at all. My advice would be to chill, take your time at Chicago and hop on the next plane, I certainly would never ever run thru O%26#39;Hare again its too big by far. Not to be smug or anything lol but we go this time with Mytravel direct from Manchester to LV, something for you to think about next time.
Have fun. JB
