yes, lots of fat in the good ole USA. the buffets are okay. I don%26#39;t want to eat an the more expensive ones but at a moderately priced buffet I get fresh fruit, salad, cooked veggies, baked potato or baked sweet potato. sometimes a little dessert. there are stations (at the Orleans where we ate last time) with Mexican and Chinese food meaning more choices such as tacos or rice. for meat I suppose the roast beef would be a lean choice.

many of the restaurants have their menus online. what kind of low-fat foods do you eat at home?

good luck and have a good trip! my son enjoyed Sydney when we was there for several months with his work a few years ago. he has a large picture of the Opera House hanging in his living room above the fireplace as a momento.

I am VegasDragon%26#39;s wife aka Dragontamer :-) I am a vegetarian and try to eat healthy. A surprising choice is Metro Pizza. I know a pizza place does not seem like a great choice but it works for many reasons. First they have a great salad called the Tuscan which is filling and a vegetarian and relatively low fat Minestrone soup. Second and just as important the husband can enjoy his sausage pepperoni and who knows what pizza slathered in cheese and we are both happy. Another choice, although it is a considerable drive would be Wild Oaks supermarket in Henderson. It would take about 20-25 minutes to get there but they have a deli, hot and cold foods and lots of prepared foods that taste great and are healthy. Another option would be California Pizza Kitchen again they have some good soups and salads and are located in the Mirage as well as the Fashion Show Mall. I don’t find most buffets good choices as the options for low fat or healthier eating don’t seem worth the cost. Hope this helps and have a great time!!!

Samurai Sam%26#39;s teriyaki bowls. There is one off of Charleston almost across the street from Red Rock. They have steamed veggies and you can get brown rice instead of white. They might have an outpost closer to the Strip. Not all food in the US is fried, we like healthy and organic food here in Cali. But people do not go to Vegas to be healthy. So good luck.

Eat at a quality buffet like Aladdin, Paris, Mandalay Bay (eating main meal at lunch price is best value)

they always have baked fish, peeled shrimp, and other seafood choices, and you can select other lowfat entrees in small portions and veg. sides

Salads and fresh fruits in abundance. You are entirely in control of the healthfulness of your meal

At many restaurants now if it says something comes with fries, you can ask to have vegetables or salad in place of those fries when ordering a meal. Places that aren%26#39;t high priced like Cheesecake Factory often will substitute steamed vegetables in place of other items that come with a main dish/entree.

More and more, healthy alternatives are finding their way into menu%26#39;s.

If you go Downtown there is a slot casino that has an excellent 2 course meal. I think the name is Mermaid%26#39;s. You can get afried twinkie followed by a fried oreo. The use low fat oil.

I%26#39;ve never tried that a twinkie, or a regular twinkie. Most of the restaurants offer wraps, Cheesecake already mentioned in CP... Grand Lux Cafe in Venetian has good choices....Just a warning on Tropicana, it is bottom of the barrel as far as Vegas HotelCasinos, I would change hotels if possible...

The Tropicana may be hamful to your health.

The cheapo Excalibur next door might be marginally better.

The moderate priced Monte Carlo, NYNY, Luxor, or MGM, vastly better. Harrahs, Ballys midstrip mid-quality , might go cheap. Midstrip cheapo Imp Palace might be an improvement also

For the short time you are on vacation, what the heck do you want to eat healthy for? Live a little, and peruse the dessert tables at the buffets!

We eat healthy at home too, but when on vacation we like to enjoy our food.
