taxi, limo for one

Last time I was in LV I used the shuttle system and hated it. My hotel was almost the last one and the price wasn%26#39;t all that cheap. The problem is I am travelling alone. How to I get a cab or limo going to my hotel, the RIO, and join a group or create a group going there?

taxi, limo for one

i suppose one way would be to ask around on your plane or while witing in line to get on- or ask around in baggage claim as you are waiting- maybe you%26#39;ll find a few other folks who want to go to the RIo as well.

taxi, limo for one

Just take a cab by yourself. There is a line right outside and it is very quick and efficient. They will take you directly to your hotel.

I agree with Lulu. Someone is bound to be going to Palms, Gold Coast or Rio (all very close) and be willing to share. It%26#39;s done in NYC all the time.

Vegas with one other person- Who?

If you had the opportunity to go to vegas with one of the following tripadvisor-Vegas personalities, who would it be and why?

staunchsteve

lilbunnygirl

DrVegas

There%26#39;s something to ponder....

Vegas with one other person- Who?

why am i not on this list?

Vegas with one other person- Who?

Because you wouldn%26#39;t let us keep the change

lol

if he was with his wife and left the brat at home ,

steve, my guess he is not to big will not take over 1/3 on my seat on airplane, they both would dress good , not over drink,

would not buy black harley t-shirts .

and we could go to poker palace, silver nugget, longhorn, barleys, so he can post on casinos other than gn,ei.

I would go with lilbunnygirl.

Look at her pic. She is a hot mama.

LOL...

I would go with vp, Gabby, MJB and bunny! Where%26#39;s my girls at?

DrVegas, for sure!!

He is definitely my kind of guy=down-to-earth, sensible, unpretentious, clever, cute, gives helpful advice, doesn%26#39;t wear synthetic clothes- and who wouldn%26#39;t want to be with a guy who knows how to use his umlaut? Plus, we are going to get married!

Second choice- lilbunnygirl (although I do prefer to go with a guy). She sounds like a fun person to be with and I like the fact that she is willing to go to off strip places to stay, eat, etc.

I just re-read the question and realized it said ';one';.

Well sorry Krow dude, one beautiful woman on your arm in Vegas just ain%26#39;t enough. AlthoughI%26#39;m sure vp would be the most practical choice.

Gabby, MJB and Bunny might be a lil too ';high maintinence'; for me.

DrVegas

I am not sure if your answer is a compiment or an insult!! I%26#39;m merely ';practical?'; I am more of a ';cozy'; person rather than a ';wow'; person when it comes to hotels, restaurants, etc. but I can do ';wow'; with the best of them!

No no no. When I said practical I was thinking back to the post that caused me to propose in the first place.

You and I would be able to go places and do things with little to no argument or planning. You know, the ';just do it'; attitude.

It was definately a compliment.

Nice Restaurant always means $$$$$?

Hi all - I will be in Vegas for a couple of nights next weekend. Myself and the lady are staying at the Venetian and Friday night we have tickets for Zumanity. I%26#39;d like to find a nice place to take her to dinner that isn%26#39;t going to break the bank. I live in New York, so I%26#39;m used to prices being high, but it seems there are not any nice, trendy restaurants that are not $150+ for two. I%26#39;m okay with something that is no more than $125 for dinner for two, though I%26#39;d love to get out of there for $75.

Does anyone have any thoughts? Thank you!

Nice Restaurant always means $$$$$?

Mon Ami Gabi is nice (thought I wouldn%26#39;t label it trendy) and makes a good, less expensive place for a nice dinner. I think we paid about $120 including tip for two dinners, appetizers, and a shared dessert plus one drink each. Great food and good location, especially if you can get a seat on the patio to watch the fountains.

We%26#39;re interested in trying Stack at the Mirage, from the menu it looks to be in a similar price point, but more trendy. Plan to try it in November before we see ';Love';.

Nice Restaurant always means $$$$$?

I also rcommend Mon Ami Gaby but itls at Paris and you are at Venetian. We liked Zefferino%26#39;s but we did it for brunch, not sure about their dinner prices but it%26#39;s in Venetian.

The China Grill at Mandalay Bay is great! Took the wife there for her birthday and she loved it. You can do a Virtual Tour on the Mandalay Bay website.

What are you wanting?

MAG is about ambience rather than the food. There are much better steakhouse%26#39;s around than MAG for the same or less money.

I can give you lots of places to go that will cost less than $60 for two. If you don%26#39;t want the chic or trendy garbage to run up the bill, you can get out with less than $40.

VHB - I would like to know as well. We had decided on Olives over MAG and are goint to SW Steakhouse the other night we are there.

Would like to know about things on the strip - we won%26#39;t have a car.

Decent Northern Italian, American, Cajun, Seafood - all but Chinese.

Hope you find what your looking for too crox40!

I would like to suggest The Range Steak House at Harrah%26#39;s. The food is great with potato and veggie included with your meal. Mushrooms are included also. You can make reservations for a window seat facing the strip or as I do, facing the carnival court to watch the timeshare people chase unsuspecting couples hoping to get a sale.

Last August we ate for less than $80 at Diego%26#39;s in MGM and had an amazing meal (2 mains, 1 alcoholic drink each, 1 shared dessert and they made us a free guacamole on their travelling cart!) The atmosphere was great and the price was right.

Warmster,

Great inexpensive Italian on the strip is impossible to find on the strip. To take that one step further the best Italian is off-strip. I know you said you do not have a car, but I know of the best place in town, not far from the strip, and even with taxi fees is less expensive than strip joints. A place called Pasta Shop at 2495 E Tropicana is the best Northern and Southern Italian in town. Average price per person is $25 compared to $60 to $75 on the strip. Go down to NYNY or Excalibur and catch a taxi if interested. On the strip on a budget Market City Caffe at Monte Carlo is decent around $27 per person.

For seafood on the strip, Luxor Steakhouse is hard to beat. I prefer a place called Buzio鈥檚 at Rio.

Cajun, for the best is a place called big Mammas Rib Shack way off strip. Cost is $10 or less. There is no real Cajun on the strip. VooDoo lounge has fake tasteless stuff they pass off to tourist as Cajun, but it is not. You can get Creole, almost Cajun at Commanders Palace. The food at CP is excellent, but a little pricey. Might try it for lunch.

Another favorite of mine is way underrated and overlooked. Bally鈥檚 Sidewalk Caf茅 is excellent. Large selection of American and Ethnic items; most under $10. Everyone raves about Grand Lux and just plain overlooks Bally鈥檚 Sidewalk. Great place for any meal, especially breakfast.

For steakhouses Circus Circus Steakhouse is the best in town and the least expensive on the strip. In addition to steak, they have rack of lamb, prime rib, chicken, king crab, huge sea roaches (lobster), and fresh seafood. Two can easily dine for less than $90 with tip.

For American Bistro, catch a taxi to the best restaurant in town, Rosemary鈥檚. Prix-Fix menu price of $39 and $49. You would have to spend at least $150 per person on the strip to get this level of service and food quality, then it still would not be as good as Rosemary鈥檚.

Another good place that is often overlooked on the strip is a place called Pepper Mill across from the Stradust..

VHB - If you are hot as hot as you are intelligent, I am rethinking my husband situation! heehe (did I mention that I am hot too?)

Anyway, where exactly is Rosemary%26#39;s? That sounds up my alley. Is the atmosphere romantic/nice as well? I ate at Tremezzo%26#39;s in Aladdin last year,(in reference to atmosphere) albeit, with my girlfreind, but I think it highly overlooked as well for atmosphere, as well as decent food and price.

Are we speaking comparatively? (besides the cuisine type).

Also, do they have a website I can check out?

Thanks a million. And now that I%26#39;ve thought about it a minute, I am positive that you are very handsome!

Warmster,

Here is alink that should help:

http://www.rosemarysrestaurant.com/index.htm

Rosemary%26#39;s is nice, but if you are expecting the multi-million dollar over the top extravegance of the strip, you might be dissapointed. FWIW it is one of my favorite special occasion resturabts.

If you really want romance and like French food, I got a place for you. Andre%26#39;s downtown is the most romantic place in town, and hands down winner with the best French food,. It is expensive, but very good.

  • Beware: MGM Mirage Online Reservations

A few weeks ago, I got tickets for Cirque du Soleil%26#39;s Love show at the Mirage for a date several months in the future. I decided to stay at the Mirage, and found what I thought was a good deal for $99/room. I strongly suggested to my wife that we book the rooms, but she said it was late at night and she wanted to research other hotels the next day. She said there%26#39;s no way the rates would go up over night.

So the next morning, I checked the rates again online, and to my surprise the rates had increased to $119. My wife was shocked that they would go up so quickly overnight in the middle of the week, considering our reservation was for several months away.

I have worked in information security for many years, so I was quite suspicious about this overnight rate increase. To confirm my suspicions, I used a different web browser on the same computer, and I used another computer in my household with the original web browser. In both cases, I was offered the lower $99 rate that I got the night before.

I then called the central reservations number and told them about the differing rates. I waited on hold while the reservations agent spoke to a supervisor. She did not give me an explanation for the rate differences, but she said she would honor the lower rate.

This practice can only be explained by what I consider an unscrupulous use of tracking cookies. The first time you visit the online reservations, it leaves a little piece of information (a ';cookie';) on my computer which is linked to the price quoted in the MGM Mirage reservations system. When I re-visited the site the next day, it used the cookie to retrieve the previous price quoted, and then the reservation system increases the price by a certain percentage or dollar amount. When I used a different browser or a different computer, this cookie did not exist, and so it gave the lower price for first-time visitors.

Whether this is a form of illegal price discrimination is up to the state%26#39;s attorney general and the FTC to decide. At the very least, they are preying on consumer%26#39;s emotions to make an irrational decision based on the perception of increasing prices or increasing demand.

    Beware: MGM Mirage Online Reservations

Just because you are paranoid does not mean ';they'; aren%26#39;t really after you, huh?

All of your conclusions about the reservation system and your computers, cookies, et al are WRONG. If you dont believe me, ask VegasHomeBoy.

Quit wasting your time on ridiculous conspiracy theories, OK?

    Beware: MGM Mirage Online Reservations

You got the lower rate, so stop your crying.

    ';I strongly suggested to my wife that we book the rooms, but she said it was late at night and she wanted to research other hotels the next day. ';

Why didn%26#39;t you just reserve the room and cancel it later if you found somewhere else? It doesn%26#39;t cost anything, and hotel rates are like airline fares, constantly changing based on demand.

I saw an article in Smart Money on this ploy - it%26#39;s true and several on-line retailers are known to do it.

    gotta luv technology, eh?

I belive steve wynn was the man in the grassy knoll.

The rates constantly change. That is why you book it when you see the rate you like. Or..... book it anyway as I did and call them and have your reservation changed to the lower rate when you see it. You can always cancel if you find a better deal elsewhere. This is nothing new. The rate can also change quickly with airfares!

I also forgot to mention that if you are unable to book a special rate and the website....you can contact them directly, explain you are having trouble, then they will honor that rate. I personally like to speak to a person when I am booking something.

Many travel web sites are known for this, Expedia, etc. It is not just MGM, it is a lot of online travel sites.

I found your posting very informative. I really don%26#39;t understand some of the responses you received. Either people think they are being funny or they have an attitude problem. Regardless, thanks for the information. I do know from experience that a hotel prices are not set in stone and can change depending on your method of communication, what discounts you ask for or they offer. There can be a senior, AAA, teacher, federal employee, business, Entertainment, internet discount to name some I am familiar with.

I, too, found your post interesting. Given some thought, it makes sense and I find plausibe. All of the flak you got about ';rates change all the time'; and ';you should have booked it the first time'; sounds like it is coming from those who didn%26#39;t understand what you were saying in the first place. Just another reason to clear out the cookies and history more often.

Round Trip Limo & Hotel Hopping

I was hoping to surprise my husband with a limo ride from the airport to our first hotel (Presidential has the package for 108 I think). We are only staying at Harrahs (comped) on Sunday night and checking in at the Bellagio for Mon-Thurs (all comped). Do you think it will be too confusing to have the driver pick us up at the airport, drop off at Harrahs on Sunday and Pick us up for the airport on Thursday for the Bellagio?

Anyone ever done this when using the limo?

Round Trip Limo %26amp; Hotel Hopping

Shouldn%26#39;t be a problem at all...

Round Trip Limo %26amp; Hotel Hopping

Did the same thing--surprised my husband with limo at airport. Omni Limo--$38 + $4 airport fee one-way. No deal for round trip but still only $84 round trip. Very professional--on time-even early and nice drivers. Little tour of the strip on way to hotel was great for 1st timers and still arrived at hotel only 35 minutes after plane landed. No problem with different locale for pick-up. you can schedule wherever you want for pick-up just confirm that they have correct locations. Enjoy! Car was a black brand new Lincoln town car sedan--stretch limo was a little more $ but not too bad.

Hey Lisa...how did you receive all your comps? I%26#39;ve read so many reviews here on how everyone gets free nights, I%26#39;ve been to Vegas 7 times, played at all slot machines (MGM Player%26#39;s Club) and only once cashed back $50..My husband and I share one card and play alot!..Can you give me recommendations?

    Dirz,

I%26#39;m in VAand used to make regular trips to NC at Harrahs. Last December we went to Vegas for the first time, signed up for all the players cards. My first trip to Vegas was comped at Harrahs, this trip the first night at Harrahs is comped and the rest of the nights is part of the Bellagio Slot Tournament.....I couldn%26#39;t turn down an offer to stay there for free.

My husband is a really low gambler. I play mostly dollar slots and VP....but not a high roller by any means. I think I spent $1800 (my money) last time over 5 days.....but I won $900 and several $100-$200 jackpots, so there is no telling how much I run through the machines

    Ka or Mystere?

I was talking to someone recently and they recommended one of these and told me to avoid the other. Can anyone that has seen different Cirque de Soleil shows give me their input. I%26#39;m looking to get tickets for an upcoming trip and would like to get them early.

    Ka or Mystere?

I have seen both, as well as all others in LV. Here are the differences:

    1) Mystere - the first Cirque show I saw, I was mesmerized. I saw it again last month and was able to more objectively compare it to the others. It features the most %26#39;acrobatics%26#39; of all, to me. There is no story to follow, just enjoy it for what it is. There are humorous moments and the feats that the performers do are absolutely incredible. Many people rate this as their #1 CDS.

    2) Ka - Saw this last month. There is a story to follow so you must pay attention to the characters, but it is not difficult. Basically, good vs. evil. The feature that dominates this performance is the stage itself. It is an engineering marvel. It tilts to all degress, turns vertical, many times with the performers on it. Some humorous moments, as well.

Both were extremely enjoyable, but everyone has their own opinions. Hope this helps.

    Mrs. G

    Cheryl

    Ka or Mystere?

I have seen both and enjoyed each show.Mystere is more comical and its main focus is acrobatics etc.Ka is more drama and action with more of a martial arts feel. Both shows were outstanding.

    Cocktail service, and midnight specials

Do any Casino/Hotel or restaurants , in Wendover offer graveyard special (mid night breakfast).

Second question, how is the cocktail service in Wendover....is it really slow, that I will be lucky to see them once an hour (if not longer)....or is the service is about the same as you would find at other NV casino....like about every 20 to 30 minutes?!? (slots machines)

The buffet in Wendover....the ';3 Majors'; are owned by the same company....the price for the buffet is identical...is their one buffet better than the other?

Lastly, are there any good tips that a ';newbies'; should know about Wendover...like the $5 steak deal at Red Gartner between 4 to 6 PM.

    Thanks

    Cocktail service, and midnight specials

In my opinion, the Peppermill has the best buffet. Montego Bay sometimes has more variety but I don%26#39;t think it%26#39;s as good --the rooms at Montego however are the best in the whole town.

Cocktail service has been fine when we%26#39;ve been.

As far as late night eating, some of the hotel restaurants are open 24 hours --there is more info about that on the websites if Im not mistaken. I don%26#39;t know if you are aware (or care) but the hotels do not offer room service.

    Cocktail service, and midnight specials

Vegas, one way to assure additional attention from cocktail waitresses is to tip liberally. We%26#39;ve found that a dollar per round will assure good attention in Wendover!

I know that the ';coffee shop'; at Montego Bay is open all night... I%26#39;ve eaten many wee-hour meals there. However, there aren%26#39;t the cheap specials like you%26#39;ll see in Primm or downtown Las Vegas.

As for the Red Garter, we%26#39;ve never eaten or gambled there, can%26#39;t attest to the food or the value.

    Yours,

    Pug

    Vegas Pools

Well here I go, We are going to Vegas for my 50th next June and taking the whole family. We go to Vegas 1-2 times a yr but usually stay at Tropicana. Its cheap, good location and easy to maneuver. Now this is what I need. I want to stay at a hotel this time that has a great pool! I have been reading up on all the pools but would like to hear it from other people. For instance, I have heard that the pool at Mandalay bay is great but always so crowded that you can%26#39;t get a spot and its very expensive to eat there. We have stayed at TI but very small pool and uneventful. does anyone have any recommendations? I like pool during part of the day and gambling and partying in the evening.

Thanks for any and all input!

    Vegas Pools

I will be going to Las Vegas next week and wil be staying at the Flamingo. I%26#39;ve heard from more than one source (CheapoVegas being one of them) that this hotel has the best pool in Vegas. That%26#39;s fine, but the thing that persuaded me was hearing that the pool always has plenty of space during the week.

';A great pool and lots of space';? Say no more.

    Vegas Pools

Yes the Flamingo has a nice pool area but usually quite a few kids running around. The MGM, Mandalay Bay, Ceasars and Monte Carlo all have excellent pool areas. But the best over all experience was at the Mirage, very cool pool area and nice rooms. The casino was also a very nice place to hang out and play.

The Monte Carlo...great pool experience, and very nice property overall. The pool is very conveniently close to the elevators, as is parkng and the strip. The prices have been a good value for the quality. The pool is never so crowded as to ruin the fun, The long walk to the pool at MGM, Mandalay Bay, etc., can be a drag

Anyone know what the pool at the Strat is like please?

imperial palace has a lovely pool

see the strat pool on Vegas.com and destination360.com

It is fairly large, and the sundeck is fairly large also

If you type ';pools'; in the search engine box ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ you will find tons of threads with your answers.

  • Chocolate Swan

Whie reading a review of the Chocolate Swan, the author mentioned a 10% discount coupon on the CS site. I looked and couldn%26#39;t find a coupon.I was wondering if any of you has seen or heard of this and if so, where to find it. Thanks.

    Chocolate Swan

    Hi Nanaju:

Just thought I would give you my take on the Chocolate Swan.

I went about a year ago after seeing it on Food TV. I have to be honest, I wasn%26#39;t blown away. I spent $10 for a cup of coffee %26amp; an eclair. Don%26#39;t get me wrong, it was good, but not fabulous for the price.

I love finding new gourmet treats in Vegas. This next trip I am going to try the Pattisserie (I can%26#39;t remember the name) at Bellagio %26amp; Sugar %26amp; Ice ice cream at Wynn.

    Hope this helps.

    Chocolate Swan

Thank you for the information---always nice to hear from someone who has been there.

While it isn%26#39;t true Belgian chocolate, it is quite good and innovative. Before the Swan moved to Vegas it was located in my little Village of Elm Grove, WI. I would stop there often for some treats after a long day. Very tasty. I look forward to a visit in September and some samples.

The chocalate swan is totally overrated. Come to think of it, everything in Mandalay Place is a little on the ';blowy'; side.

The Mandalay Bay front desk gave us a coupon booklet for Mandalay Place shopping center, which included a 10% off coupon for Chocolate Swan. We were MB guests, but they passed out the booklet just for asking. I bet they would give one to anyone who asked for it.

I have to agree, though, that Chocolate Swan was a disappointment for me, too. We tried their frozen custard and chocolates, and didn%26#39;t find them anything special. Their menu offerings were also pretty average, IMHO.

The patisserie in the shops attached to Bellagio, just south of the conservatory (the one with the chocolate fountain) was much more innovative and exciting.

ourladyofrevlon - FWIW, I was disappointed by Sugar %26amp; Ice. It%26#39;s just overly sweet gelato. Not saying don%26#39;t try it, but I know my expetations were high %26amp; it was a let down. So...fair warning :)

    Lilbunny:

Thank you! I really do not like overly sweet ice cream. I was hoping to find a blood orange gelato. I had it out of town once %26amp; loved it! I was looking for the combo sweet %26amp; tangy.

What do you think of Luv It Frozen Custard? Heard great things.

    Thanks, again.

ourlady - I got the raspberry hoping for some tartness and it was so sweet it made my tongue shrivel. I have a MAJOR sweet tooth, so for something to be too sweet for me is saying a lot. I couldn%26#39;t even finish my small, ended up chunking it. What a waste for $4! My husband threw most of his peanut butter-chocolate flavor away too, it was way too sweet and too intense a peanut-y taste for him.

Luv It Frozen Custard? I have to admit I have only been there once but I LUVED it :) I had a lemon custard shake %26amp; it was super.

Check their website for which flavors they have on which day, in case there%26#39;s one particular you really want!

    www.luvitfrozencustard.com/flavors1.htm

I agree with Lilbunny- Luv It is very very good. I had the Raspberry Royal but everything I saw looked great.

  • WSOP Texas Hold 'Em Bonus table game

Has anyone played this? I don%26#39;t mean the actual poker room games, I mean the casino floor table game. I saw it in A.C., so I assume it%26#39;s readily available in Vegas too...

How%26#39;s the house edge on a game like this? And what table minimums are reasonable for this game if my daily bankroll is a few hundred bucks? Seems like with a $10 minimum ante, one would need at least $30 on the table to even play a hand, bare minimum...?

    Thanks for the opinion...

    wynn promo code

select dates between now and september using SOLS06 will give you a resort room for $179, hope this of use to some people.

    wynn promo code

What happened to the $159 rate?

    wynn promo code

It%26#39;s only avaiable on certain days.

I%26#39;m busy on certain dates. What about not so certain ones?

This is just to ridiculously funny! I also got an email and tried the promo code. The dates in fine print were dates I was going anyway so I thought, why not?

With the promotion code, the Resort Rooms, Panoramic View Room and Tower Suite is $20/night lower than their standard rates.

However, starting from Executive Suite, it%26#39;s actually cheaper to book at standard rate than using their promotion code! Okay, Parlor Suite was just $9 lower at the dates I looked up. But Executive %26amp; Salone was $100/night lower than the rates seen after entering the code. I%26#39;d understand it if the rates for these suites are same whether using the code or not. But lower at standard rate? That%26#39;s just too strange.

I must be doing something wrong, when i go into the wynn site and enter the promo code, it will not give me the discount rate. My travel date is on 9/22, friday. Can someone double check if this is the correct code, this will help me save alot because for the cheapest room rate is 349.

I wasn%26#39;t the only person with 3 comped nights last week, it seemed like I met 50 people staying there free. Did clear $285 cash on the $200 free slot play.

Someone hit a $10 machine for $520,520 on tuesday night. Saw the payout on a machine back by Lure and Red 8 and checked with slot attendant who confirmed win was paid.

Overall impression, best bed I ever slept on.

Definitely slanted to attract far east customers.

but in terms of class, The Bellagio still way ahead. I have stayed there too.

The promo code s correct. It%26#39;s just not available on the date of your stay. The rate is only offered on September 4, 5, 6, 17, 18, 30 %26amp; 31 and October 1, 2 %26amp; 3.

Friday is usually a more expensive night than Sun-Thur in Vegas, while Saturday is even higher.

    Sharing Players Club Card

    Hi All,

Does anyone know if it is possible to get a second players card under the same account?

I%26#39;m going to mirage with my girlfriend in september. She probably won%26#39;t be doing much gambling so rather than having her sign up for a second card I was hoping that she could just play under mine.

I read that accounts could be linked, but it mentioned that you had to be at the same address? We%26#39;re not living together so would that cause a problem llinking accounts? Also, I%26#39;m pretty sure that she won%26#39;t want to be on a mailing list or get mailouts so I%26#39;d prefer if we could just have one account.

Any good ideas on what to do?

    Thanks for the help.

    Sharing Players Club Card

Well you can always tell the lady at the counter you misplaced your card and voila!, you will have 2 cards.

    Sharing Players Club Card

Yes, just ask for another card. My sister played on my accounts while we were together in Vegas in April.

I would like to know if you can get in any kind of trouble using another person%26#39;s Player%26#39;s Card, (with their permission of course), and using their free play. My brother lives in another State, got a Players Card, and gets freeplay offers now and then. Can he mail me me his players card and pin number and let me use his freeplay? He says anything I win using his freeplay we will split 50-50. Furthermore, can the casino security tell if you are using another person%26#39;s players card? (Not planning on any big wins or hand pays, so not worried about that.)

    Vegaholic,

When you redeem your points for anything, most casino will ask for a photo ID.

As for ';sharing'; players card....most casino will let you do this without any problems. As someone mentioned, when you sign up, ask for 2 cards....or go to the booth and ask for another card.

I think he is right about having the same address in order for them to let you share the card.

We have always gotten our own cards, but when we went to Atlantic City, the person issuing the cards said as long as we had the same address he would issue 2 cards in one of our names so we could rack up points together. Makes more sense to do that actually.

Since you do not have the same address, just get another card without explaning why you want it.

When I picked up my Players Club card they give me two without even asking. We played with both cards all week without issue.

I never had a problem getting more than one card- all I did was ask. I frequently forget to bring my cards to Vegas ( lose them between trips) so they just issue 2 new ones- no questions asked. Some people do like to play 2 machines at the same time. I have also given the card to someone else (he is not interested in comps of anything else) and he has played at the same time I was playing- again, no problem. He keeps one of my cards and if he goes to Vegas without me he uses it - my card gets to Vegas more often than I do! He cannot, however, use the card to get anything. For that I would need to be there with a photo ID.

Sometimes it pays for you and your husband to get separate cards i.e., at the Orleans, since we now get two offers, one for each of us. for free rooms.

    Mon Ami Gabi

Just thought that I would let you know that I was there last week and the food was fantastic. Hubby had the Asparagus soup with the salmon entree and I had the steak with the berbaise sauce. Three drinks and the total bill was around 95.00. We arrived early for our reservation hoping for a patio table. It was very hottt. For all of the people who say that you can see the fountains from here I don%26#39;t know where you are sitting all I could see was the street a few trees and mayb e some water through the trees. Don%26#39;t go here looking for a view of the fountains cause it ain%26#39;t gonna happen. The food is great thougn

    Mon Ami Gabi

intresting pint about the fountains. i have been there twice and both times i have not seen the fountains from where i was sat.

    Mon Ami Gabi

I ate there on my last trip for the first time-I wanted to see what everyone was raving about. No one restaurant is going to please everyone and I have a different opinion of it -sorry, everyone. I thought the food was good but not exceptional. I waited for patio seating. This is my take on it- half of humanity is walking inches away from you(I was seated by the railing) -many of them staring up at you; you have strip traffic (and all that entails) not far away; you are listening to loud people, motocycles, etc. while you eat; 6 times while eating dinner I could hear sirens wailing; I couldn%26#39;t see the fountains. I like to eat outdoors but I didn%26#39;t consider this a great patio dining experience. Unless I am with someone who wants to eat there, I doubt if I will be going back anytime soon.

Glad to hear ypu enjoyed your recent visit to M A G Jack, we have reservations for next Friday evening. We were there twice in April and were seated on the patio, with heaters!! Won%26#39;t be needing them this time I%26#39;m sure! We had a good view of the fountains, I find it strange no-one else has! Yes it is noisier outside rather than in, all the same, we loved it there.

We%26#39;ve been to MAG many times, always sit on the patio, can always see the fountains. Not sure why or how you couldn%26#39;t.

I am not much of a MAG fan either. MAG is more about ambience rather than the food. It is a steakhouse and the steaks are small and nowhere near as good as the most other steakhouses in town.

One of the few times I kind of disagree with Vegashomeboy; although I guess they call themselves a ';Fench Steakhouse'; I personally never thought of MAG as such; particuarly since I live in Chicago (home of the original MAG) and have never had the Steak there either. MAG does not fit my image of a steakhouse; therefore, I think to compare it to other ';Steakhouses'; is a little misguided; even if literally accurate (again, MAG classifies itself as a French Steakhouse)

The sandwiches, non-steak entres (mussels, salmon, shrimp, scallops, crepes)and wine list make MAG a good destination and I have always found the food quality to be as fine as the ambiance; as well as the view of the fountains from the patio. Our service has always been good too.

Have read commentary from others who have enjoyed the Steak, so maybe beauty is in the eye of the beholder; maybe one day I will try one.

Oh...and if you ARE looking for a good Steak at a Steakhouse, Vegashomeboy%26#39;s got that pegged. If you can get over the fact that it%26#39;s at CIRCUS CIRCUS, you will enjoy a wonderful Steak and a very un-circus circus like Steakhouse.

TDC, it is not my classification, rather every pool and critc magazine that rates it, including here. The term French Steakhouse to me just means they serve it in sauces. Like every good steakhouse they all serve seafood, chops, fish, chicken, and lamb.

To each his own, so if you want to call it something else, no problem here. But I still say if I want a steak or French food, I am not going to MAG to get it.

If I were from your area of the country, I certainly wouldn%26#39;t come to Vegas for French or Italian as you have places like Carlos and Spiaggia, not to mention the original Mortons and Chicago Chop House. YUM.

  • anyone had to go through this?

We will be flying to LV in 2 weeks and I have fluid behind both ear drums. My doctor says it is safe to fly but may be uncomfortable. has anyone else had to go through this how bad is it? Is it just pain or do you get sick to? I am really hoping they improve in the next two weeks, but if not i don%26#39;t want to let something like my ears wreck our trip. I am a little nervous about the flight like this!

anyone had to go through this?

I think that TSA has some new regulations on fluids. You better not tell them about to fluid or they might not let you on.

anyone had to go through this?

    Pfffft at the previous post.

My best friend was a flight attendant, and had to quit for this very reason. She blew both her eardrums. That being said, she was doing 4-5 legs a day (up and down).

I%26#39;d advise talking to another doctor.

Always, There was another post recently ( within the week ) addressing the same issue. I believe the suggestion was to take an antihistamine/decongestant before the flight and use Afrin nasal spray during the flight. I don%26#39;t know how good this advise is but atleast it is a thought.

Yes there was a recent post ( Aug. 8) and it was by the same poster (alwaysappy) asking the same question.

yeah but it wasn%26#39;t the same question, I am worried about the pain it may cause so I want to know if other people had flown with this. in the last post I asked about what you can take on a plane for pain relief.

Let me start by saying I am not a doctor.

Now then, years ago my wife popped a hole in her eardrum on a flight when she had a head cold or something similar. It hurt, but not as horrible as it sounds. Her doctor said in the future she should take a decongestant with Guaifenesin in it (try to find Robitussin Cold pills) to help with drainage.

Not sure if this will help your situation. As others have suggested, I would ask another doctor

    DrVegas,

    Can you answer this????

I went to the beach a couple of weeks ago and have been swimming a lot this summer. Came home with an ear ache. It stopped hurting before I made a drs appt. Then within a week I had a sore throat etc.

Went to to see the doc. Explained that although the ear is not really hurting anymore...just pressure...please check it out. Also mentioned I will be flying in the next couple of weeks. He gave me antibiotics for my other issues and said that should also dry up the fluid that is behind my eardrum.

I will be flying in another week and a half so I hope all will by well by then. Actually my ear is not bothering me at all right now. My question is....didn%26#39;t your doc give you anything that will help dry it up and if not maybe give him a call and ask. Tell him it%26#39;s still bothering you and you are concerned.

Ear trouble although not always can be very painful. Had me in tears on a few occasions. Inner ear swelled up so much that it was shut and could not get medicine in it. If I had been on vacation then it definately would have been ruined. Call him and voice your concerns. Ask him if there is some way to dry it up so you don%26#39;t have to take the chance of being uncomfortable!

    Sudafed Non-Drying capsules

2 every 6 hr to drain ears

thanks kwtovegas that was really helpful. Like I said before I guess I am just worried about wrecking my holiday (we have saved for 4 years for this). I have been struggling with this for about a month and no medication has worked, the doc finally said all I need is time (hopefully not to much time) I appreciate your answer and just hope all is well before we go or I may need to cancel, something I REALLY don%26#39;t want to do.

I stayed in a Bellagio Suite Aug 7-11. 30th floor pool view. I did have a fridge. It kept our water ice cold. Floors 29-36 used the same elevator. Need your key to get on the floor. Before you get to the elevators you must show your room key as well. We only saw vending machines on the 30th floor just off the elevator. It was a great stay for us - never waited more than 30 secs for the elevator. Hope this helps...

We stayed in a Salone Suite in July and had a fridge. We are staying in a Bellagio Suite in November and was told it had a fridge. I think calling the hotel and asking would be the surest way to find out though.

We too stayed in a Bellagio Suite this past July. It had a very handy fridge in the living room beside the entertainment unit which housed a TV, stereo VCR and CD player, and fax machine! The suites on the upper floor need key card access. And no, there were no special drinks and snacks for these suite residents.

All hotel rooms have free friges, just tell them you are on insulin.

  • Treasure Island or Ceasars Palace

Just when I thought I%26#39;ve narrowed it down to TI, I think I%26#39;ve been hooked on Ceasars Palace.

Could anybody that%26#39;s stayed at both, please give me the run down on both of these hotels for a 2 night stay.

Also, if booking on the web, does the hotels web site offer the best prices or is there another web site that I can be advised about for accom bookings.

    thanks

    karen

    Treasure Island or Ceasars Palace

I would imagine your decision may be based on price. These are two totally different places. Caesars has almost everything you could want plus high end accomodation. TI is more average but has a fun atmosphere (cocktails in the poolside jacuzzi etc).

Don%26#39;t know how old you are, but if you%26#39;re around 30 or under you may like TI. If you%26#39;re 40 or so, you%26#39;re more likely to prefer Caesars.

I%26#39;d go to either, but I must admit, I quite like TI. If they were the same price, I%26#39;d choose Caesars because it normally costs around twice as much to stay there.

Aladdin have some good deals on from $59 in September, another option???

    Treasure Island or Ceasars Palace

If the prices are close id stay at Ceasars without a doubt. Just the pool alone would seal the deal for me. Ti has a terrible pool area. Yes go with Ceasars.

Caesar%26#39;s has a better location on the strip, much nicer pools and more selection of places to eat. However, unless you are booking in either the Palace Tower or Augustus Tower, I think the TI normal rooms are nicer than the older towers rooms at Caesar%26#39;s.

    Caesars

Ditto on CP, for the pools and restaurants. Our pool at home rivals the pool at TI.

    Pricewise, TI is the place.

If I did splurge, Caesars but I would want the Augustus tower only.

The TI actually has a better hot tub than the wynn.

The Wynn has only 1 hot tub for the low rollers and its small and generic with kids.

I personally think TI suc*s unless you are a frat boy who wants to go to whatever the club is called there. The people are rude and the gaming suc*s. Ceasars also has a much better location

Thanks for all replies, we decided on CP and I%26#39;ll request a room in Augustus Tower.

    Wedding by Elvis

We are from South Africa. When we got married we promised to renew our vows every 5 years in a different setting. So next year I want a ';cheesy'; renew done in a chapel in LV by an ';Elvis';! What chapels do that? I really want a fun experience! But still want to do a wedding dress and flowers.

    Wedding by Elvis

We did this last year for our 10th anniversary and used the Graceland Wedding Chapel. They did a great job and we loved it. They picked us up in a white limo and Elvis walked me down the aisle!

    Wedding by Elvis

we got maried 2 years ago at the candle light chapel with Elvis as our best man.they were very good an arranged it all for us ........go do it........

What a fun and unique thing to do! I applaud your boldness.

I agree with Mainhen. We renewed our vows back in June for our 10th anniversary at the Graceland Chapel. They picked us up at our hotel in a stretch white limo, and Elvis walked me down the aisle, performed the ceremony, sang two songs and posed for pics.

After it was over, the Chapel%26#39;s limo driver took some more photos for us with our own camera and then he drove us to the Eiffel Tower Restaurant where we had dinner reservations.

The Graceland Chapel was very good and highly recommended.

    Thank you everybody!

I too am getting married in Vegas and have booked with the little white chapel with an Elvis to serenade us, the only chapel I found where Elvis actually performs the ceremony is the viva las vegas wedding chapel, we decided against this as thought we would be laughing too much! Most of the chapels can provide an Elvis impersonator for singing/ best man/ walk down the aisle etc.

you%26#39;ve got 94 ceremony choices in Vegas with Elvis involved. Just decide what era Elvis you want, and whether you want him to perform your ceremony or just walk you down the aisle and sing to you.

I'll be there Sept 8-a few questions for a fairly newbie

    Hi eveyone,

I need a vacation so bad! I%26#39;m leaving for Vegas the evening of Sept 8, and will be there til Thursday. I%26#39;m staying at the Orleans.

    My questions are this:

Has anyone taken the VOF SUV tour? I don%26#39;t drive, and want a nice tour to somewhere I haven%26#39;t been, that will let me get out and walk around. Has anyone done this tour?

The other things are this: I am trying to figure out a place I can go to pick up a few things like conditioner, hair stuff, whatever, in case, being everything has to be in checked baggage...and I don%26#39;t like to travel with too much stuff.

The other thing is I%26#39;d love to see the VooDoo lounge, would it be uncomfortable for a woman alone? I am a very laid back artist type who lives in jeans and t shirts on vacations-I HATE dressup, but do make jeans look good. Is it a dress up sorta place at that? I wanna go for the view and that weird drink that looks like a voodoo concoction.

I haven%26#39;t beein in awhile, and I%26#39;m so looking foward to it...any suggestions out there?

    thanks much,

    Fyrecat

I'll be there Sept 8-a few questions for a fairly newbie

    Hi Fyre:

I can only address your shampoo, etc. question.

I also stay at the Orleans (which I love) %26amp; they have a great gift shop. The prices are very reasonable. Example: A 24 oz. water which you would pay $3 %26amp; up on the strip in $1.80. A 8 oz. bag of trail mix was $1.99.

I think for the hassle to find a drugstore (there are none that I know of by Orleans ) %26amp; the cost of getting there the Orleans gift shop would be your best bet,

Also, your room provides you with bigger than average shampoo, cond., lotion %26amp; mine were replenished every day.

There also is a coffee maker in the room but only 1 cup is free during your stay. Others are $1.75. Some people have complained about this, but for me not having to get dressed when I get up is well worth it to me. Heck, I spend $1.75 on a slot in seconds.

By the way, I stay alone at Orleans %26amp; they have great security. You can%26#39;t pass the security at the elevators to rooms without showing your key.

    Have fun!!!

I'll be there Sept 8-a few questions for a fairly newbie

orleans is a dump try to get out of ur reservations

Fyre - The VooDoo lounge would not be an uncomfortable place for a woman on her own. Especially if you go mid-week, or earlier in the night (like 9 pm?) when it%26#39;s less crowded you won%26#39;t have to worry about being hit on.

You can dress up your jeans and not look at all out of place. THis is what my husband and I wore the last time we went there

    www.themcginleys.org/vegas6/vegas632.jpg

    Enjoy your Witch Doctor drink!

    as far as voodoo,

as a rule they dont go fro t-shirts,white tennis shoes ,

i think you would be ok with good jeans and shirt

glad you%26#39;re getting to take a vacation!

we stayed at the Orleans in April and will again in Sept. we took their shuttle to the strip. as mentioned, they%26#39;ll have shampoo and conditioner and lotion.

there are also stores on the strip. here are some earlier posts--

%26gt;%26gt;CVS is on the north side of the Monte Carlo on the same side of the street. The Walgreens is directly across the street.

%26gt;%26gt;We just stayed at Aladdin last week...we visited the ABC store several times.

so people will see what you want to know without having to open the post.

our lady - what do you mean only one cup of coffee is free? Dont they give you a package of coffee for the machine? Usually a tip to the housekeepers gets all the coffee you want? This is a big deal to me as the only fluid in my body when Im not drinking is coffee. Why is the Orleans a dump?

  • Wanting to go topless…

I will be in Las Vegas over Labor Day weekend. I will be staying at The Orleans’ but would like to spend some time at a topless or “European Style” pool. Does anyone have any experiences or insights with the many topless, 21+ pools that are now in operation? Do any of these pools offer admission to non-hotel guests? How much is the charge?

For the record, I’m only willing to go if I can get in legitimately. I don’t want to sneak in, hop fences, flash faux room keys, etc. Also, I’m not a creepy old man who needs alternate suggestions for where to catch some skin, I’m actually a young woman who wants to lounge around without getting those pesky tan lines :) Thanks for your help!

    Wanting to go topless%26hellip;

you have to apply first by posting pics here...kidding aside I do not think non guests can go and use other hotel pools.

    Wanting to go topless%26hellip;

Darn, just when I was going to post pics for my “application”, lol.

I figured that most pools require you to be a hotel guest (and rightfully so) but thought that perhaps they made exceptions for these special interest pools. Then again it is Vegas and there is already more than the fair share of scantily clad next to naked people. Anywho, if any one on the forum knows of anything else regarding the topless pools, please let me know.

    Mirage now has ';Bare';

I think the people at O%26#39;Sheay%26#39;s, Mermaids, and Casino Royale were working in unison to come up with something like that for their ';Whales';.

You are going to have switch hotels.

Is bare what they are working on back by the dolphin exhibit, might be time to go see those dolphins again.

    troll???

from the mirage site, here%26#39;s the phone number for the Bare pool. you could ask if they let others in, you might have to pay.

For general information about Bare, please call 702-791-7442

The topless pool at the Stratosphere is open to the general public for a fee.

    Bite

Was wondering if anyone has seen Bite at the strat.thinking of getting tix. opinions?

    thanks...

    Bite

We saw Bite during our September 05 visit. A two for one deal and that is about what it was worth. While we enjoyed it over all, it is a bit ridiculous. Seemed that the cast realized that fact also. This made it easier to watch

    Bite

My fiance and I checked out the show during our last trip to Vegas. We loved it. The crowd and the performers really got into the vibe of the show. It is a bit cheesy (vampires and classic rock are a funny combination) but the performers were sexy. It%26#39;s a fun little show. Would try to get coupons (we saw a lot of coupons around for the show) or try to get half price tix however. I wouldn%26#39;t suggest full price to see it.

I%26#39;ve said it before but I won%26#39;t say it again. The title sums it all up.

    I hear they are replacing it with a new show, ';Suck';

What are the best websites out there for researching and buying show tickets?

Best Website for Researching/Buying Show Tickets

    My favorite is www.vegas.com

You can search all shows for the dates you will be there. You can order tickets from them but personally once I find the show I am looking for I look it up directly on the hotels website and contact that phone #. Hoping not to pay any extra ';fees'; going through a third party.

    I like to go to

    www.vegasfreedom.com

KW2Vegas is correct. NEVER actually buy show tickets thru a third party of any shape or form. Big fees and tickets you get are for inferior seats than would be available if you book direct with hotel.

Bought all mine direct from the hotel via the %26#39;net with the exception of Celine which came from Ticketmaster.

  • Tipping Limo Driver

We have a limo reserved for airport pick up and transfer to NYNY along with a strip tour the total time is 2hrs.How much should we tip the driver? Thanks in advance this site is awesome.

This is what I found on an etiquette website

    http://www.findalink.net/tippingetiquette.php

    ';* Taxi, limo, paid shuttle, or van driver - 15% of the total fare. Up to 20% if the driver helps with the bags or makes extra stops. No less than $1.';

But I say just tip as you see fit. If the limo driver does a great job with the tour and gives you great advice and info- hey- give him some extra bucks!

    Tipping Limo Driver

Thanks boochi for the info yes I agree good service should always be rewarded I just didn%26#39;t want to go over the top. Presidential Limo.is the group we chose I have read good reviews for them. Thanks again.

I%26#39;m flying my folks in from the East coast and they arrive late morning. I%26#39;m sure the hotel rooms won%26#39;t be ready and a tour of vegas with champagne sounds like fun.

    Thanks.

    Taxi or shuttle to hotel?

    Hi all,

    5 days and counting!

6 of us are arriving on Fri. Wondering if it would be better to take one of the shuttles to the Flamingo or do they have van taxi%26#39;s that can take all of us in one trip.

Shuttles about $5 pp? So shouldn%26#39;t a taxi for 6 be less than $30?

    Thanks for all the help,

    Lisa

    Taxi or shuttle to hotel?

They do have large cabs/vans. You would be better off taking the taxi. Money is about the same and you will save time....

    Taxi or shuttle to hotel?

Cab fare to the Flamingo would be $12-15 (depending on traffic-it could be more or less). For price, time and convenience I would suggest taking the cab.

Whenever my wife and I arrive in vegas, we take a limo to the hotel. They are waiting just like the cabs and only charge about $40 to go most of the hotels. It sure makes a nice way to start a Vegas vacation.

A limo is the way to go when you have a group of 6. If I remember correctly, taxis/vans can only take4or 5 people max.

It%26#39;s a blast to get the whole group together in a limo %26amp; arrive in style!

can anyone recommend a good limo company to pick us up?

we make our cab driver make a pit stop at the liquor store to stock up our room --- a wise investment before checking in

Chattey--We have always just taken one of the limos outside the airport.

I am not familiar with the different limo company%26#39;s, but the driver of the limo%26#39;s we have taken from the airport in the past always gave us a business card so that we could call them to pick us up at the hotel and take us back to the airport.

I always use Presidential limo. They are wonderful! Ride runs about $50. The driver will meet you at baggage claim, get your luggage for you and load the limo. The women get a red rose and there is a bottle of champagne in the car! Total class all the way. Six people could split the cost very easily.

Is this Presidential limo waiting with all the other limos or do they need to be ordered in advance?

You%26#39;ll need to reserve them in advance. If you just grab one outside the airport, you don%26#39;t know who you will get.

Guzzalisa: Elvis is everywhere in Vegas...type in ';Elvis, Vegas'; in the search box and you will get some answers..last time I was there, Elvis was available for pictures just outside the Imperial Palace...My favorite is Big Elvis at the Barbary Coast...limited days and times, and sometimes his performance is cancelled due to his health...he must weigh, I%26#39;m guessing, about 500 +pounds.and has to sit on the stage.....has a great voice..I usually just get a slot machine closeby or sit at the bar and listen, rather than watch..He invites audience members to join in and allows pictures with him....its free, of course...You can also get the average daily temperatures for January in Vegas online...For me, its sweatshirt and coat weather...

    Elvis show

fitzgerald%26#39;s downtown has a good elvis impersonator.

    I second Dwright%26#39;s recommendation.

I also like Big Elvis- saw him just last week. He performs at the Barbary Coast at 3 and again at 5 M-Thur. Get there early if you want a seat- he is very popular.

Temps in January can vary a lot. The highs are usually in the mid to upper 50s with lows in the 30s. Some years the highs have reached 70s while other years the highs didn%26#39;t climb out of the 30s. It is best to bring clothes that can be layered- tops with long sleeves, meadiumweight cardigan and a jacket with a lining so you can be prepared for anything. Check a weather site just before leaving so you have a better idea what the weather will be like during your trip. This site will give you the average daily temps:

Thanks everyone for you help and advise.

Cab fare to Boulder Station from Airport

Has anyone ever taken a cab from the airport to Boulder Station? If so, what was the fare? Also, I would be interested in the fare from Boulder Station to Caesars. I%26#39;m staying one night at Boulder Station and 3 nights at Caesars. I just want to make sure I%26#39;m not overcharged. Thanks for any input.

Cab fare to Boulder Station from Airport

    It%26#39;s about 7-10 miles and should be around $20 - $25...

Cab fare to Boulder Station from Airport

I have never done it so I am going to refer you to the official Nevada cab site:

    http://taxi.state.nv.us/FaresFees.htm

They give the fare as $20- more or less depending on traffic.

    Thanks for the info.

Some of the Henderson hotels have their own shuttles, worth inquiring

Car rental for 4 days, around $100, would save 3 or more cab rides and be very convenient overall

The traffic is always bad, $30 with tip is probable each way, plus $15 +tip to airport. See www.dollar.com

Boulder Station does not have a shuttle from the airport or to the strip.

  • Restaurant/Show recommendations for 20something couple

My husband and I are staying at the Bellagio for 3 nights. We%26#39;re in our early twenties and looking for recommendations for three things: Restaurants on the strip (don%26#39;t have to be near Bellagio), a show to see while we%26#39;re there and suggestions for nighttime entertainment that%26#39;s not clubbing.

Restaurant: Would prefer non-chain and something we can do for under $100 for dinner and/or under $40 for lunch. Italian, Japanese, or a steakhouse would be great.

Shows: Husband has never seen a show (of any kind) and has little tolerance for musicals- I%26#39;m thinking Mystere or another one of the Cirque shows might hold his interest. I heard O is a little slow but that Mystere is good for first-timers.

Any suggestions would be most welcome! Thanks in advance.

    Restaurant/Show recommendations for 20something couple

    Good, short, cheap afternnon show.

Try Mac King magic shoe at Hurrahs.

Otherwise, more expensive, Blue Man Group.

    Restaurant/Show recommendations for 20something couple

    bump

My wife and I saw O last Nov. and I loved it. Im not big on musicals or artsy shows and if it wasnt for the money I would see it again when Im there in a couple weeks. Because of the money I would pay to see a different one then I have already seen. We also saw the Lance Burton Magic show, which was also pretty good. Tickets are reasonable but if you have the time we got free tickets by visiting one of the timeshare companys you will see. It was a waist of a couple hours but got the free tickets to a show we had thought about buying tickets for and a free buffet dinner at the Monte Carlo.

My wife and I are also both in our early 20%26#39;s. This was evening itinerary for one of our nights. We were both very happy with the restaurant and show.

Restaurant - Eat at Mon Ami Gabi in the Paris hotel. Their steaks are fantastic and only cost $21.00. The house Chardonay is also very good, and a steal at 25.00 a bottle. and it%26#39;s right across the street from the Bellagio.

Show - See KA @ MGM Grand. It is an amazing show with plenty of acrobatics, martial arts, and fire. The stage and the whole theater are amazing.

  • Delis

I%26#39;m thinking of trying one of the New York style delis that have started appearing on the Strip in the last few years on my next trip. I%26#39;m thinking specifically of Stage Deli at Caesars, Carnegie Deli at Mirage and Canter%26#39;s Deli (yes I know this originated in LA rather than NY) at TI.

Anybody had any good or bad experiences of any of these places?

    Delis

I love the Stage Deli, prefer it to Carnegie both for quality of food and quality of people watching.

    Need nightclub itinerary wed-sat

Hey everyone....Us 20 somethings are going to vegas 8/23-8/26 (wed-sat) and staying at NYNY. We need nightclub suggestions for each night we%26#39;re there: wed, thurs, and fri. definitely would like to stop by Rain and Pure...thanks for any suggestions!!

    Thursday go to Rain

    Friday go to Pure

    Saturday go to Jet

    Need nightclub itinerary wed-sat

Hope you%26#39;ve got plenty of money to secure bottle service tables. Otherwise that%26#39;s a big chunk of your trip spent waiting in line.

I did this today and was amazed. Go to Vegas.com and they have a detailed list of all acts from headliners to lounge acts. Just put in the dates you will be in town and what you are interested and get all the info on ticket prices, times, and even maps to get there. There is also a great list of the best bargain places to eat and much more.

Wow, our trips overlap... we%26#39;ll be there 8/24-8/27 (Thur-Sun). So far, we%26#39;re only sure that we%26#39;re going to hit Studio 54 at some point (had too much fun there last time not to go back) and possibly Jet on Saturday. I went to Rain last time I was there. I was not so impressed, but it was also late in our trip so maybe I%26#39;d have been unimpressed by anything at that point...

Blagger, I actually have been to vegas before and have been to different clubs nightly and have NEVER waited in line...i don%26#39;t understand people always complaining about club lines...i never stood in one, so im not worrying about it this time

Thank you everyone for your suggestions!!!

what clubs are bumpin on a sunday night?

Tao at the Venetian on Thursday.

I can%26#39;t provide info on Night Clubs but I will provide you with a ite where you can practice some move.

    Luxor....Pyramid Room or Tower Room?

I told my husband that for his birthday, I had booked Monte Carlo, but then told him about the parking garage and that we could do valet or just park at NY, NY after we check in. Of course, he wasn%26#39;t overly thrilled. He is just protective of his car and he just likes the idea of being able to check on her every once in awhile...usually on a week vacation, he%26#39;ll go to the car maybe 1-2 times. Mainly because his old car, we were at a hotel and the car next to us just kept hitting his door, they ended up parking over their lines, so since then, he likes having the chance to just keep an eye on her.

With that said, I did get an email on Thursday from Luxor....$69 for all 5 nights, which is Thanksgiving week. He is cool with staying there, he%26#39;s cool with staying pretty much anywhere, it%26#39;s his birthday and he is ready for a vacation!

If you have stayed at Luxor...do you recommend the Pyramid rooms or Tower rooms? I would like the pyramid, because that seems to be the whole reason to stay there, but i want to make sure that it%26#39;s a good room.

    any suggestions?

    thanks,

    Charlene

    Luxor....Pyramid Room or Tower Room?

    In reply to:

I would like the pyramid, because that seems to be the whole reason to stay there, but i want to make sure that it%26#39;s a good room.

It%26#39;s not. Forget the whole pyramid concept. The Tower Rooms are much nicer. The pyramid rooms feel like your on a room on a ship (especially with that slanted ceiling). You should just take the elevator for a spin and you%26#39;ll have some fun going sideways. But that pyramid gimmick wears off after 5 minutes and you%26#39;ll appreciate the square, and more spacious Tower Rooms. Just my two cents.

    Luxor....Pyramid Room or Tower Room?

I liked my pyramid room. it actually had a fan in the bathroom, hard to find in vegas or anywhere.

When lounging on the bed, the Red rock mountains were framed nicely in the window. Being on the big atrium was cool. The room was big enough and nice enough

    Two points.

We stayed at a corner room in the pyramid, and we enjoyed our regular room at a different resort much more. Go square.

Secondly, didn%26#39;t know if you were aware that the parking garage at Luxor is two floors, with the top floor exposed to the elements. There is a pedestrian bridge from the parking garage over a street into the Luxor.

At that time of year, finding an isolated spot away from careless people swinging their car doors shouldn%26#39;t be a problem.

I hear they cheat you out of part of a wall in the pyramid room.

They should offer a discount for that since you%26#39;re not getting a full room.

When we stayed in February we had a room on the 9th floor of the Pyramid and it was nice. Clean, not smoky, no noise. I have read that the tower rooms are nicer, maybe more frills than what we had (we had a standard room). But that%26#39;s my $.02

    tower

We have stayed 3 times in a Tower Room. They are much bigger than the pryamid .The tower rooms have a tub and walk in shower. The pryamid only has a shower. This tells you that the rooms are smaller. The tower rooms have floor to celing windows. We always have asked for a tower room in he east tower because it is nearer to the main hotel than the west tower. Ask for a high floor facing the front i.e. strip . We have had 19315 and 20315 two queen beds.

wow-changing plans beacuse of the car!

what kind of car is it anyways???

    Rat Pack Tribute Acts

Am off to vegas in Nov and am thinking of either doing a rat pack tribute or a Evlis tribute

Has anyone seen any of the Rat Pack ones and are they any good ? What would you recommend ? Looking for an evening show

    Rat Pack Tribute Acts

The Rat Pack show at the Greek Isles casino is excellent and you can virtually always pick up cheap tickets for it. Unfortunately the show is the only good thing about the place. Don%26#39;t stay in the building one minute longer than you need to.

    Rat Pack Tribute Acts

If you do a search on the Tribute to Frank, Sammy, Dean %26amp; Joey at The Greek Isles you get a lot of responses that all say the same thing: The show is excellent, the hotel is a dump. Get your tickets at a half price outlet, and have the phone number of a cab company in your cell phone, because there%26#39;s none to be found outside after the show, and it%26#39;s a bit of a walk back to the strip.

thanks for the info.. will look into this one.. just found what i think is their website

    http://www.ratpackvegas.com/shows.htm

won%26#39;t stay on after the show then ;-))

Based on what you asid i think i%26#39;ll avoid the dinner too.. more concerned about the performance that the hotel as once it%26#39;s started will be glued to that

thanks again for the help// if it wasn%26#39;t for this forum i%26#39;d spend all my time inside the hotel as i%26#39;d have no idea where to go!!

We had i ntentions of going to the show. We walked into the casino, saw it was a dump, and walked right back out. This show (or one very similar to it) is making the rounds in certain cities. We have secured tickets to see the show in our city in October. That%26#39;s another option you might try, search Ticketmaster.

Yes, compared to the Bellagio, this place is a ';dump'; but it%26#39;s not like the Greek Isles is a transient hotel, or a crack-house!!!!!

Let%26#39;s just say it%26#39;s not FANCY, and doesn%26#39;t have all the bells %26amp; whistles of the strip mega hotels. Very small casino but I found it rather friendly......the karaoke (sp?) was hysterical!!!!

WE saw the tribute show and had no issues with this place regarding safety or cleanliness. And it%26#39;s only a 5-8 minute walk back to the strip. The show was fantastic and the venue was clean!!!!!!

Ready to get flamed now!!!! lol

    tommy rockers

anyone been to tommy rockers on industrial road any info please thanks.

    tommy rockers

We will be in Vegas the end of October and we were told it is a fun place. Does anyone have anymore feedback?

    tommy rockers

Great place ,go on Friday or Saturday to see Tommy play !

Go soon because they are going to tear down Tommy Rockers

    to put up more condos

My wife and I have been there twice.

    - Its not a night club or a casino. Its more of a restaraunt but i believe they do have live music at night. We have only been for lunch. Seemed like a locals lunch spot.

    - Great bartenders when we have been there.

    - Food was very good and portions were huge.

    - They have video poker at the bar and if you play they take some of your lunch and drink charges off of bill.

    - They also have a number of the day which we had a lot of fun doing. If you get 4 of a kind and its the number of the day you get to spin a prize wheel for cash.

We walked out very full, a little tipsy, and with more money than i walked in with. Go, you will enjoy yourself.

Remo, do you know when they are going to tear down Tommy Rockers? We are going to Vegas over Halloween. Are there other locations?

  • Paris, TI, or Aladin

    Hey all

Just back from Vegas last week-we have to book some rooms for upcoming trade show in January-prices are obviusoly much higher now!

What would you recommend out of the above 3 hotels if they are all more or less in the same price range?

Pool not important-but rooms and location are quite,

    Many thanks

    Paris, TI, or Aladin

Pool certainly isn%26#39;t important in January! I would say the following:

TI - Really cool rooms but least central location of the three. Location still pretty good though, opposite Venetian, next to Mirage.

Paris - Best location - premium view rooms directly face Bellagio fountains. Room decor is a totally different vibe to TI. Much more of a traditional European feel than the more modern vibe at TI.

Aladdin - Location very good but not quite as good as Paris. Impossible to say how far down the line the construction and changover to Planet Hollywood will be in January so it%26#39;s a bit of a gamble.

    Paris, TI, or Aladin

    thanks blag-

the location of all 3 work ok for what were doing-room quality was more the issue-beacause the July rates were so good-we along with out staff all at Bellagio..but thats not gonna happen in january-so I am trying to lessen the shock as much as i can...

Having only stayed at the Aladdin [x2 ] the rooms are great...spacious and modern etc. You will love the extra large bathroom that includes a huge free standing tub which is seperate from the shower as well as the TB. Location is excellent.

thanks-trying to get a good rate at Caesars or Mirage too.

I stayed at the Paris less than two weeks ago.

I tried to wrangle a strip view out of them but with no luck.

I stumped up extra for an upgrade so I got the Bellagio fountain view and club rooms access so I got a mini buffet breakfast and evening starters for the extra money. (The fact that food was thrown in made it value for money)

The TI is beginning to show its age and needs an upgrade itself.

The Aladdin looked impressive, and I believe the rooms are nice. The shopping arcade is good but alas the hotel is been upgraded itself so you will have to put up with construction work.

    paris baby!!!

    Thanks everyone-

    So T.I is out -

based on rooms-do we go Paris or Aladin-Aladin is 30$ less a night....many thanks!

    Paris. Period.

As stated before, Alladdin is under construction to convert to Planet Hollywood.

Aladdin ';resort room'; is the best room. The standard room is also high quality, but smaller

The construction will not bother you, I found it easier to find my way to shopping, strip, and restaurants WITH the walled off zones. You can%26#39;t go wrong at any of the 3, but to save $, I would go Aladdin. I got a couple hits on their slots, too. Aladdin and Paris both have good buffets, but the lines are too long at Paris

    Your ideas please...

We are throwing an engagement party here in the UK before heading to Vegas for the wedding. We want to make people aware of Vegas being the key to the whole thing so we wana send out vegas themed invites. Anything pre-printed on the internet I have to say I don%26#39;t like much. I have a nice photo of vegas all lit up at night which I bought in a souvenir shop on our last trip but I would rather something a bit more creative!

If anyone has any ideas or has done something similar I%26#39;d love to know,

    many thanks xx

    Your ideas please...

How about making ';playing cards'; with the wording in the middle but keeping the hearts/spades etc?

Or - abit more complicated- print to size a picture of a slot machine (a winning one of course) on wafer paper %26amp; superimpose it over a stock white invite?

    Your ideas please...

I don%26#39;t know how much you went to spend but there%26#39;s some really cute Vegas theme invitations on this site:

    www.announcingit.com/main/Product.asp…

This one looks neat. A b/w ';Las Vegas strip'; photo on the back with a piece of light translucent paper on top (vellum paper) w/the details.

thanks guys i hadn%26#39;t found either of those sites and the twopeas in a bucket one i love!!

    VIP tickets on EBay

Does anyone know if the VIP passes on Ebay work? We%26#39;re heading to Vegas in November and plan on going to a few clubs. Does anyone know what the VIP passes get you? We are thinking of going to Rain at the Palms or Pure at Caesars. Anyone have a favorite?

    VIP tickets on EBay

Haven%26#39;t done it- but before you do, you might like to read this recent post from the reviews section:

    Las Vegas: PURE nightclub at Caesar%26#39;s: ';Awful...Stay Away!!';

Apr 17, 2006: A TripAdvisor Member, San Francisco, California

I went to Pure nightclub with a friend last Saturday night. I had previously purchased a ';VIP'; card for Pure that entitled ';the bearer and one guest'; to free admission into Pure. After showing the bouncer my VIP card, he said ';because you are a guy, you need to go to the back of the general admission line.'; After waiting in line for over two hours to enter the club, I finally reached the front of the line. At that point, I was informed that the free admission promised by the ';VIP'; card was only honored at ';management%26#39;s discretion'; and that I would have to pay $30 to enter the club. I paid the $30 although I was mortified and disgusted by Caesar%26#39;s practice of false advertising and fraud. As a attorney, I know that this practice is illegal and violates numerous consumer law protection statutes. Such conduct is also actionable based on common law theories of fraud, misrepresentation, and deceit. In short, STAY AWAY unless you are on ';the list'; or are willing to pay $30 and stand in line for two hours. There are other great clubs in Vegas where you don%26#39;t have to deal with being lied to and treated like garbage.

    VIP tickets on EBay

Don%26#39;t worry about it. You can get passes from guys on the street (they work for tips) or in some trendy stores or even the concierge at the hotel where the club is.

I recommend getting a table at tryst in the wynn. It%26#39;s a beautiful club, and a lot more fun than PURE.

    Airport to Luxor

    Hi folks,

My wife, adult, daughter, myself, five or six pieces of luggage and two golf bags. Would we get a cab from airport to the Luxor, or do we have too much luggage?

    Any polite advice welcome.

    Many thanks

    NedtheBandit

    Airport to Luxor

    Ned, use a Van cab.

    Airport to Luxor

We took the van cab to Luxor; hubby and I shared a ride with another couple so we had 4 big bags total and some smaller carry ons. It was $11 before tip. Hope this helps!

They line you up at the curb in a certain spot if you have more than 2 ppl so it%26#39;s quite organized. We waited like 2 mins!

    Ned,

the luxor is so close to the airport that you will think its walkable...I am sure you could if the was not a 10 foot wire fence in the way!!

Anyway I think you will need a two cabs or hire a limo. Cheaper than a couple of cabs for sure and no waiting in line.

    have a great trip

    sunshinebob

As has been stated, Luxor is close... so close the light that beams up from the middle annoys pilots landing and departing from LAS. You will not need two cabs or a limo. A minivan (there are hundreds) can haul three adults and all your gear and will be able to get you there for about 10 bucks.

Thanks for all your advice. Seems like the minivan is the way to go.

    sharing a room

Hi, I%26#39;m a 42yr old girl(woman!!!) from England arriving in Vegas on 20 September for 7nites. I was going to stay in the hostel on Fremont Streetbut was wondering if anyone was in the same situation and wanted to share a hotel/motel room, no strings just purely to keep the cost down.

My previous post may have said sept 27th but its definitely the 20th

    sharing a room

It isn%26#39;t the same in the US as in the UK where sharing a room is frequently done. We just don%26#39;t do it. Sorry, wish I could be of more help.

    sharing a room

you must be nuts! or is this a joke? where in durham you from?

there a loads of cheap hotel options in vegas without having to share or be in a hostel!

there are plenty for less than 拢290 for the week.

Stjamesjoy you must be mad to share, alot of mad people out there. Theres plenty of cheap hotels around - Straposhere give rooms away!

Most of the hostels in the USA are used by people in their late teens/early 20s who have very little money to spend. It is an ';adventure'; that most people would avoid if they can. I have not stayed in the hostel in Vegas, but from what I have read about it, it is not in a good area. I would not want to share a room with a stranger-you are asking for trouble.

I%26#39;ve got to agree that perhaps asking to share might be a bad Idea. but I%26#39;ve stayed at hostels all ove the world and have found them to be the highlight of the holiday.

As`a lone traveller hostel can be a very good meeting place for other lone travellers from around the globe.

but there are some very cheap hotels in L/V so I would just shop around.

not wanting to sound too presumptious but if you are a lone traveller and wanting some company then Me and my colleague are attending a conference in Las Vegas from the 17th -24th we are planning all sorts of days out you can quite happily tag along.

We are both attatched ( one married) and late 30s %26amp; early 40s and not loonies!! just sensible blokes out to see the sites of las Vegas.

this offer of meeting up is open to anyone in vegas during our dates, lets meet up and have a laugh!

    Mike

Stjamesjoy, the first thing you need to do is post a pictiure of yourself. Secondly, if you aren%26#39;t so good looking, you might want to mention incentives, like whether you own a boat, or whether you know how to clean fish, or whether you are loaded. Sometimes, listing the incentives is more productive than the picture.

Go to the Gold Coast or Stratosphere

You can pay for the room with pocket change

and still be a 25 min walk from mid-strip

    ';and still be a 25 min walk from mid-strip';

but i wouldnt walk if i was you!

  • check in;; airport or hotel????

going to vegas in dec staying at the flamingo

i have read good reports about getting a better room by checking in at the airport is this true???/

    alsowhats the hotel like??

    check in;; airport or hotel????

I and I do mean, I,,,,think the Flamingo is a dumpy hotel. It does have a beautiful pool area. The rooms I had were stained and torn. I never want to sleep in a bed covered with someone elses excrement or walk on puke stained or blood stained floors. At least make me think the room is clean. Anyhooooo, this was my experience. Many posters have stayed at Flamingo and love the rooms.

Check in is much quicker at the airport. You are given your room keys and can go to your room upon entering the hotel. Sometimes this may not be true and you may have to wait for a room.

    Enjoy your trip.

    check in;; airport or hotel????

Other than the fact that the lines are usually shorter, I don%26#39;t think it matters where you check in-airport or hotel. The same rooms are available at both places. Which room you get depends on what is available at the time and the person you are dealing with.

people keep saying about using (the $20 trick) when checking in

    what is this?

The $20 trick is when you discreetly slip the desk clerk $20 in order to try to obtain a room upgrade. Depending on your point of view it can be seen as a bribe or a pre-tip. Some people here swear by it, others say you can get the same upgrade for free if you just ask very nicely. For more info, just type ';$20 trick'; into the search function and you will get a thousand posts on it.

I guess it doesn%26#39;t matter if you check in at the airport rather than the hotel itself.

    Monte Carlo Parking?

After reading a response to my post about hotels and someone saying that Monte Carlo%26#39;s parking garage is closed, where are guests to park if they are driving? Is it just part of the garage that is closed or the entire thing?

We are staying there Thanksgiving week, but Luxor is offering good rates, never been there, but was thinking that maybe, if parking will be an issue at Monte Carlo, that maybe it might be worth it to try Luxor. Or maybe even Bally%26#39;s.

Can anyone provide some insight in the parking situation at Monte Carlo?

    Thanks

    Monte Carlo Parking?

go to ';las vegas advisor'; its under news area a few days back

    Monte Carlo Parking?

    take a cab........problem solved

The parking garage is completely closed but they still have valet parking available. A lot of people prefer to valet park anyway.

Gee, wideawakeinaz, one more thing to obsess and worry over. How exciting for you

Thank you Tom for you help...truly appreciate it....honestly, if i have concerns over important things such as Parking...why do you feel the need to make a comment? I might be a little worried about parking, but at least I am not rude to people.

    Thanks,

    Charlene

Oh, on to the actual post. Thank you for posting where to read about the parking. Maybe in that case, we might consider going to Luxor. I got an email deal, $69 each night, including Thanksgiving night and $10 in free and $20 food credit for their steakhouse I believe, which, that we may or may not use.

Husband isn%26#39;t a huge fan of valet. He likes being able to check on the car once in awhile or if we leave something, we have easy access to the car, which is usually me forgetting something in the car. =)

We still have time though, I guess we will see.

I wouldn%26#39;t mind staying at NY, NY or MGM...they both seem to be in the same area as Monte Carlo. But we will see.

    Thanks all!

    Charlene

We stayed at the Luxor last year and took full advantage of their valet parking - in the whole 10 days we were there we didn%26#39;t once feel the need to check on our car. It%26#39;s free (just leave a tip) and it%26#39;s just one of the special things you get when in Vegas! Also, it may be quite a walk to your car if you self park.

I would say not to worry about valet parking - you will love it.

I%26#39;ll be at the MC on October and I think more of a concern is that if there is no parking garage then everyone is forced to valet. It will be be interesting to see if they can keep up with the demands of the increase in valet parking. I%26#39;ll be interested in seeing some MC reviews to see if it is a problem. No one wants to wait forever to get their car out of valet.

When we were in Vegas last month, we did both: Self park, and valet. We self parked at the Monte Carlo, a lot of the parking garage floors were closed and had to park on the uppermost level. It was a walk to the casino, I%26#39;ll tell you! We valet parked at the Aladdin, and numerous times we had to wait forever to get our vehicle. Even when we collected our Hummer in ';off peak'; times, it would take 20 to 30 minutes. At the Golden Nugget, I found the valets there to be very quick and never had to wait longer than 10 minutes at the most for them to deliver, and they made sure they held the door open for me, very courteous.

Also valet parked in the following places:

    MGM

Luxor (And you WANT to use the valet here, it%26#39;s a bloody MAZE to self-park!)

    Sahara

Imperial Palace (we did self park here too and it was fine, never too far of a walk it seemed)

    Caesar%26#39;s Palace

    Bellagio

    Venetian

    Wynn

and I am sure there are more just cannot remember yet because I%26#39;ve only had one cup of coffee this morning!!!

The MC is recommending guests who do not want to valet park use the parking garage of their sister property, NYNY. The new MC garage is supposed to take the better part of 2 years (???) and will be 12 stories tall, with two levels below ground. I don%26#39;t know if the below-ground levels will feature a tunnel to the main structure or not. I wouldn%26#39;t be crazy with the NYNY self-park option, and I wonder where they plan on putting all the valet-parked cars during construction. It sounds like a big source of irritation to me. Couple that with the construction of Project City Center next door on the old Boardwalk site and the MC is not quite the same great place to stay it was in January when I was there.
