I was wondering whats the best time of the week to go to the hoover dam and grand cayon? I know the clubs and shows are cheaper during the begining of the week. Sould I spend my time on the strip in the begining of the week and go to the hoover dam and the grand gand cayon later in the week or the other away around? Thanks

Yes, you got the right idea. Room rates for the weekend in Las Vegas usualy double. So, I would suggest you go to the Grand Canyon and plan so that you can spend a weekend night in either Wms or Flagstaff where you will find a cheaper hotel rate. I would not recommend that you try to do GC and return to Vegas on the same day.

i agree. we went on a morning tour. we were picked up at our hotel at 815 am and we were back by 1230pm.

when we were leaving the damn around 1115 am the line to get in was so long.

I was thinking about goin to the south rim of the grand cayon. My parents went there this spring to a indiain resavation they got a rent a car and drove. Its a little closer to vegas too. thank you.

The wife an I are going to be doing the Vegas to South Rim in October, we decied to drive to the south rim and spend a nite or two at one of the lodges (as a break from Vegas..?...)

Any thoughts on what type a car. The wife wants econo car, for gas milage and such, I%26#39;m thinking something with alittle more power in case it%26#39;s needed (maybe midsize). $$ is a factor, but don%26#39;t want to get stuck anywhere on that long drive.

Any other helpful hints on how to make the drive better, faster, less of a pain.. (Ok, I%26#39;m not big on driving 5+ hours on vacation).

muskrats, the Indian property is the self-described ';West Rim';. It is not within Grand Canyon National Park. The canyon is not as deep or as wide there. Still nice to look at, but those who have been to both the ';west'; rim and the South Rim say the view at the SR is more spectatular. Just so you know.
