I will be spending my 50th birthday in Vegas and am planning a meal with my two best friends and my brother. There appears to be plenty of steak restaurants in Vegas so making a choice is very difficult! Therefore, I am looking for recent recommendations and comments - somewhere where one can get a good steak and fries and a variety of vegetable sides. And, naturally, the desserts are important.............I do love anything chocolate flavoured. Price wise am looking at $80-100.
Any help will be much appreciated.
We will be staying on the strip but are prepared to take a short taxi ride. For some reason, I fancy eating in downtown Vegas so if anyone knows of any good restaurants that would be most helpful.
Steak restaurant
Hugo%26#39;s Celler in Downtown Vegas ( Four Queens Hotel) has very nice steaks and every dinner includes a custom tossed salad and a tray of fruits at the end with melted chocolate to dip them in- all for one price. They have other desserts for extra charge as well. I can%26#39;t remember about fries though- they may serve baked potatoes or wild rice as choices. You should easily get away with $50 or so per person as most steaks there are in the low $30 range - and all ladies get a fresh rose- the service is very old Vegas- I think you%26#39;d enjoy it!
Steak restaurant
The prices have gone up to the $40%26#39;s and they don%26#39;t have fries on the menu- but here%26#39;s a site with the menu and some photos- still think you would really like it!

Hugo%26#39;s is fantastic off strip, and worth the price of a cab to go downtown.
Or one of my favorites, and I%26#39;d get the onion straws instead of fries, and all sides are served family style big enough for at least three, is Joe%26#39;s Stone Crab http://www.icon.com/joes/las_vegas_menu.html
I also highly reccomend the bone in filet, if you are serious about steak...
My second choice is Smith and Wollensky, look at their menu, they have a fabulous wine list http://www.smithandwollensky.com/
Great , now I%26#39;m hungry....:)
Hi,
Thanks to both of you for your replies! I certainly like the look of Hugos Cellar.
Smith and Wollensky I found its web page but couldnt see any menus on it - am I just so tired I am missing it???
I know I am slightly deviating from my original question tho am still going to ask your advice on a couple of other restaurants I have noticed for another evening - they are Maggianos and Nine Fine Irishmen - I love the irish craic and the only two places I now travel to are Ireland and Vegas!! lol
Cheers
I have been to many over the years, on the strip I still find myself
partial to Delmonicos at Venetian, bone in rib eye. And yes the
do have chocolate cake!
Thanks 21player - Delmonicos is one of the ones my brother suggested - must admit, the double choc dessert did attract my attention!!
Am going to stop researching for this evening as is getting late here and also my tummy is starting to rumble!!
Cheers
Isn%26#39;t this where staunchsteve should be posting?
Yes - cue Stevie!
That being said, this question has been asked and answered numberous times. If you type ';steak'; in the search box ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ you will find LOTS of responses.
There is no better, classier, or less expensive than Circus Circus Steakhouse.

There is no reason in the world to spend $80 to $100 per person for a steak dinner...
I%26#39;m spending my 50th birthday in LV as well. My favorite steakhouse downtown is Binion%26#39;s Ranch Steakhouse on the top floor. I%26#39;ve found their food and service to be every bit as good or better than most of the pricier places like Morton%26#39;s or Gallagher%26#39;s in NYNY. In fact, I was given my choice of dinner places and picked Binions over Delmonico%26#39;s (no offense, Emeril) Plus the view from the connected cocktail lounge is spectacular looking down towards the strip.
