Hit up Yahoo Maps to find the dopest route.

I prefer Mapquest. That%26#39;s a good one too.

Google Maps is the best.

True that. Double true.

hey dude%26#39;s i just want to get the best out my few day%26#39;s off that%26#39;s it. that%26#39;s what%26#39;s up.

What might be the shortest drive on paper might be the longest drive in the car with traffic. If you drive to LV on the 15 North make sure it is on a weeknight not weekend and if you drive into So Cal from LV then make sure it is not on Sun. Also which freeway will you be taking to get to Malibu from LV. You really have to watch what time you leave to drive places. Just 2 weeks ago it took me 1 hours from the Sepulveda exit to get to terminal 1 at LAX. Which was about 3 miles. You can mapquest the distances, and then vary the freeways chosen, and then figure out what time you want to leave. Really...good luck.

Look at Trip Advisor San Diego %26amp; look up Old Town Inn. Weekday rates with AAA $69-$79 weekdays.

Downside: Not at the beach. In fact it%26#39;s between the Marine recruiting Depot %26amp; A mental hospital (I felt right at home).

Because of this they try harder. Book a deluxe room (not economy). Large room w/sofa, coffee table, microwave, coffee maker, frig. A lovely flowered pool area, free deluxe continental breakfast.

The same people have worked there for years.

Not fancy, but very nice %26amp; friendly.

thank you both for the great info i.e the last 2 posts, any hoh im wanting to take the 1 or the 101 which one give the best view. im not sure . also i was wanting to have a short/fastest trip back to lv. i will be traveling on a mon - wed and ive wanted to do this for a long time. so im going to try to get in all i can in a short amount of time.

I know some you will disagree but i love to drive from SD to LV at night about 7pm get on the 15 N and go through the desert at night. make sure car is working well with no problems because some parts are steep long grades up (i.e. Halloran Summit) but little traffic. watch for speed traps in barstow and as soon as you pass Primm.

s q you rock, im excited i have sorta checked out the cali forum but vegas forum seems to be better.

Malibu to Las Vegas is just a chore. From Malibu you%26#39;ll have to get on the 10 East and traverse downtown LA.Some days that%26#39;s a 20 minute drive, other days, it%26#39;s an hour drive. Then, from downtown LA to the 15 north is another hour (if nobody took a stupid pill before they got behind the wheel). Then the drive to Vegas is 4 hours give or take 12 hours.

I do hope you have a great time driving your dream. The 101 and the 1 and the 5 and the 405 merge and split up and down the coast of California. Get a good map and watch the signs. I think you pick up the coast highway in San Clemente and it goes almost to San Diego. Going North, you%26#39;ll be on the 405 and 5 to LA.

Hey no worries, just want to make sure you get as much time seeing good stuff versus figuring out that we are truly bad drivers. The hubby and I have a house in SD and are closing escrow on one in LV, so I do the trip between the 2 places a lot. I would pick a section you want to see like OC to SD and do it well and take your time to soak up the sun. My concern is that you are going to do more freeway driving than anything else. Is there a special reason to go to malibu or SD?
