My husband and I (young 50%26#39;s) will be in Vegas for the first time a couple of days in September. We will be staying at a timeshare and will have a car. We want to see Hoover Dam but have no other definite plans. Any one have ideas on the best shows, other ';must do/see'; activities for first timers, reasonably priced places to eat (no buffets), etc? Thank you all for your suggestions!

first time in vegasIf you are looking for a reasonably priced night out I suggest the Sahara and the Stratosphere with a stop downtown. I would arrive about 4pm at the Strat. and visit the tower. It is a must see, at least I think. Have dinner at the House of Lords located at the Sahara. Need to make reservations 24 hours before. Then see the Scintas at the main Sahara show room about 8pm. Then if you have time take the Duece(double decker bus) downtown to the Freemont Street Experience, another must see. The bus stop is just north of the casino. Some people dont like the north end of the strip or downtown but, I think they both have Old Vegas charm. Something that is quickly disappearing. This whole night would cost about what two tickets to a Cirque show runs. A good web site to vist for ideas on what to see and do is Vegas.com. Have fun!!
Try Red Rock Canyon which is only 20 miles from the strip. Great view of the desert and the mountains. 13 mile one way excursion with many cutoffs.
Best shows - LOVE
Must-dos - Bellagio fountains at night
Reasonable dinner - Mon Ami Gabi
