I noticed on another topic mention of immigration at chicago being slow. our transfer time is 3hrs.

Flight AA from manchester on a saturday in sept.

Do we need to change terminals? any other tips other than don%26#39;t hang about

Hi Graham,

I regularly fly out of Chicago-O%26#39;Hare, although recently it has only been domestic. You%26#39;ll arrive into Terminal 5, the international terminal. From there you%26#39;ll be going up two levels to access the people-mover. This is free and will take you in virtually no time to Terminal 3, which is AA%26#39;s domestic terminal. (There is no T-4 in between.) Then you%26#39;ll go down one level to the departures level. I%26#39;d say 3 hours is more than practical. You can check out airport maps and info at: www.flychicago.com and click on O%26#39;Hare. It gets a bad rap sometimes but I haven%26#39;t had a major delay (over 20 mins) in many years.

Just make sure while in Chicago you eat a couple of their World Famous Chicago Style Hot Dogs from Gold Coast in the airport and a slice or three of their World Famous Chicago Deep-Dish Pizza.

125 Mins. is still OK. You just won%26#39;t have much time for pizza and hot dogs, that%26#39;s all! (Sorry Steve.) Maybe on the return trip?

I fly via American Airlines to Chicago from Heathrow several times a year. If you are not a US citizen or resident, immigration can take quite a while and you will have to get your luggage and then take it through customs, after that is the luggage recheck but that is usually fairly fast. The luggage can take a long time to come down the carousel though. Once through there, you go up an escalater one flight and catch a tram. The American terminal is #3 and the first stop. Once off, go straight to the security check queue, it can take anywhere from 10-30 min. Believe me, you may need that 2 hours!

Wait til you get through the security check and on the way to your gate, if there is time, then get one of those awesome hot dogs!

Flights usually board about 25-30 min before take off time.

We flew from Manchester to San Francisco changing at Chicago with a 2 hour 15min time slot. We had to run like mad to get the flight and they were calling out our names for boarding as we arrived - and we didn%26#39;t stop for eating, toilet etc. We didn%26#39;t have the advantage of the information you%26#39;ve already been given though and had to keep asking people where to go. The line for security was really long and we got held up further due to a strip of anadin in my hubbies pocket, the metal foil was setting the alarms off. It was a bit of a stressful experience and I will be making sure we only have direct flights in future!

Were flying out this Thursday. Manchester to Chicago to Vegas. Hopefully the change over will go without a hitch as we plan to be in the Palms pool by 5pm !!

I%26#39;m off to Vegas end of Sept flying with BMI via Chicago.

Connection time is only 1hr 25 min, having to change from terminal 5 to terminal 1 (internal flights with United) plus clear immigration.

Now I%26#39;m worried......thinking I could miss this connecting flight!!

HI My wife and i had to do exactly the same in jan 06, We only had 2hrs 5 minsand we struggled .The airport is one of the busiest in the world and the biggest ,imigration was about 35-45 mins checking baggage in for connecting flight 30 mins ,thru security 30 mins , I%26#39;m sure we boarded at gate 12 and we just made it.Sorry for being a bit negative but if you keep your cool and don%26#39;t hang about you%26#39;l be fine.GOOD LUCK AND GOOD WINNING
