I am going to the Grand Canyon in September but I have been told that it is quite a cold place, something I cannot believe. I do not wan to go unprepared so if you have been could you please let me know what is the best thing to wear. Thanks
Grand Canyon
The rim of the canyon is at quite an altitude so it%26#39;s always a lot cooler than Vegas. In September daytime temps should be in the mid 60s and at night it can get chilly (down in the low 40s).
Grand Canyon
You can check for temps here
www.climatrac.com/choose.asp鈥?/a>
This site reports average highs at the South Rim from 78 at the begnning of the month down to 71 at the end, and average lows from 47 down to 38. Temps are different for North Rim and for Phantom Ranch (at the bottom of the canyon). As with most travel, prepare for warmer and cooler, and dress in layers.
Forgot to mention, if you are going to the so-called ';west rim'; (to the west of the National Park), the canyon is not as deep, so temps may be a bit different than at the South Rim.
