Hello!

Im taking a day trip while in Vegas out to see the Hoover Dam/Lake Mead and VOF. Is there a good place to stop to eat there or on the way. Not looking for anything fancy.

Thanx

I am also doing the same and would like an answer to this-I will move this topic to the front again. Thanks. Help anyone?????

Hoover Dam to VOF- Where to eat?

At VOF there is a great picnic area called the Seven Sisters. You can pick out a covered table among the red boulders with a great view of the desert. Of course, you will have to bring sandwiches and drinks. I enjoy it everytime.

I believe there%26#39;s a pace to eat at the marina on Lake Meade (on the way to VOF) but I think that may be it. I know there wasn%26#39;t any place to eat within VOF other than picnic areas.

Picnicing does sound like a lot of fun since you will have a great view. Maybe we will look into stopping at a store somewhere first.

Thanx

pittchick,

We did the Hoover Dam to VOF trip in Jan 2004. As I recall there was no place to eat between the two. As another poster mentioned, there may be food at some of the marinas this time of year.

I second the picnic idea. It gives you much more flexibility.

Trader Joes is a fun store to pick up picnic fare. I keep hoping one will come to the Pgh area.

You can find the locations at www.traderjoes.com

Whole Foods Markets are also found in the area - check www.wholefoodsmarket.com for locations.

There is also a Super Wal-Mart at one of the I-215 exits south of town.

Another option would of course be any of the local supermarkets, sorry I don%26#39;t know which of those to suggest.

Take plenty of water!

I agree, take LOTS of water, even if you don%26#39;t plan on hiking. Also, don%26#39;t let your gas tank go below half - there aren%26#39;t a lot of gas stations around. I%26#39;d fill up in Vegas and that should be good for your mini tour of the area.

Travel2Eat :

Tader Joe%26#39;s sounds pretty neat. I have never head of it. Hopefully western PA will get something like that.

Thanx to all who responded :)

As far as picnicing is concerned, there are a lot of stores on the side streets that prepare blimpies, hoagies, subs or whatever you call them.

What area are you talking about with the hoggie store? closer to Hoover Dam or VOF?

pittchick-there is really nothing between Hoover Dam and Valley of Fire as far as places to eat other than a couple of marinas which may offer food, as has been posted. If you plan to picnic you will need to get off tan exit on the way to Hoover Dam and stop in at a store, Subway, Blimpie, etc. whatever you come to.

I can share with you what we did, there was a Subway next to the hotel we were staying at on the strip and it was open very early. We had brought a a collapsable cooler from home and filled it with ice. Then packed it with water, drinks and subways for our picnic. We picniced at a spring area on the way from V of F, like a roadside park. There are many areas to picnic in the park, but it was still early, so we took the scenic drive along Lake Mead back to Vegas, which is opposite of the way you are planning. Just an idea thrown out there for ya!
