Have to change terminals too......Arrive at Terminal 5 and departing Terminal 1.

Many thanks

That should be plenty of time, unless your plane is late.

You might want to post this to the Chicago forum if you haven%26#39;t already.

Lyn,

You may want to check out the thread currently on page 2 about connecting in Chicago. Even though it refers to American, the info is still mostly valid for someone going to Terminal 1 (United/Ted, I assume.) 90 Minutes is fairly tight-the security lines in T-1 can be long, and that was before the most recent increase in the alert level. Good luck!

Hi

Do you think its worth mentioning it to the cabin crew on the transatlantic flight (Manchester UK to Chicago) about my connecting flight?

Cheers

I doubt that would be much help. You%26#39;ll be at the mercy of the international baggage claim, customs officials and then the security checkpoint in T-1. There%26#39;s not much a flight attendant can do about those things!

My flight was Manchester to Vegas via Chicago.

There happened to be a direct flight to Vegas by BMI leaving a hour earlier.

We got bumped to that flight instead.

Maybe its worth asking.

We came back via Chicago.

By the time you switch terminals, go through immigration, security etc it can be tight but doable.

Think I%26#39;ll just resign myself to missing the connecting flight :-(

It depends what day of the week it is and what time. If you are arriving at Chicago Ohare during the weekday, lines are much shorter. I%26#39;ve only experienced long security lines during heavy traffic times (Monday mornings, Friday and Sunday evenings).

Getting to the other terminal isn%26#39;t that big of a deal and shouldn%26#39;t take that long.

Best of luck to you!

The 90 min connection time will only work if your flight is on time and if the lines for you in Immigration aren%26#39;t too long, they usually are though. Also, baggage seems to take forever in the International terminal. I fly between London and Chicago several times a year, used to try a 90 min turn around there, no more, only worked one time. What you can do is contact the airline and see if they might change you, tell them you booked the trip before the latest security changes.

It won%26#39;t do any good to ask the airline to do anything once you are enroute, Over half of the passengers on your flight will have connecting flights all over the place, no way could they accomodate all the requests.

the imigration lines will make or break your connection- make sure youve filled your forms in correctly and smile :)

terminal to terminal is very quick on their wee train.

we had the same predicament a couple of months ago-made it with time to grab a coffee on the way. (thats including losing passports/tickets-but thats another story )

wouldnt worry too much, if you do miss it im sure theyll just stick you on the next flight, of which there seems to be plenty of.

good luck

We are also flying with BMI for our San Francisco/Las vegas trip connecting in Chicago with UA. When I questioned the 1hr 40 min turn around time with BMI I was informed I did not need to collect my luggage as this was a through flight, and the baggage is transferred to the on going plane. However if I miss the connecting flight through a delayed flight time is it BMI%26#39;s responsibilty to arrange a new ongoing flight.

Cheers

Joe
