I have never been one to ';know when to cash out';. I am leary to walk away as maybe the next spin is going to be the one, but it usually just takes my money. I have never hit a ';real'; jackpot. My hubby is just the opposite, he will cash out when he%26#39;s up.
So, I went gambling with a g/f and he sends me $20 to play for him. I put it in a 50 cent Sizzling Seven machine, pull 3 or 4 times and hit $100...cash him out as as I know that%26#39;s what he would do. I then think I might as well try a $20 of my own, and lo %26amp; behold I hit for another $100.
Well, I want to be able to go home %26amp; say, HEY...I CASHED US OUT %26amp; WE BOTH WON $100 ON LESS THAN A $20 BET!!!!!!....so I walk away and go to a machine nearby.
The woman that was playing the machine next to my Sizzling Seven winning machine, moves over to it and puts a $20 in and guess WHAT?.....She hits the progressive with 3 Sizzling Sevens for $500 dollars!!...I COULD%26#39;VE had a total of $700 had I stayed.
I am now ruined for knowing when to cash out. I guess I suck at the #1 rule. Does anyone have any advice on ';knowing when';?
#1 Gambling Rule...Know When to Cash Out!
That raises a question: would the ';3 Sizzling Sevens'; have come in had you continued playing? Is it all predetermined like that? How DOES the randomizer chip work? Any experts in the gallery?
#1 Gambling Rule...Know When to Cash Out!
That brings up the #2 rule... when you cash out, get the heck away from the machine! I always leave the area of a machine when I%26#39;m done with it. That way I avoid seeing someone win a jackpot right after I leave. :)
When you leave a machine you have to put your hands over your ears and shout la la la as loud as possible till you are out of range of it. That way you never find out if the next person has won ;)
I don%26#39;t really play slots, but if I win on a machine I would usually place for another 5-10 hands (depend how much I won) and if I haven%26#39;t won again by then I%26#39;ll walk away. But that doesn%26#39;t mean that rule is any better than what you did. Just be grateful that you were up.
In the end I think you just have to be disciplined. Set the rules that you play at and stick to them. Then at least you don%26#39;t have a go at yourself for walking away early or staying too long. If hitting $100+ is a time to stop then that%26#39;s fine, why put it all back in the machine hoping to get $500. If what happens happens that%26#39;s life, but as long as you stuck to your rules then be happy.
LOL
Ya never know . I cash out when I am up . Rather than go to another machine , I will play same machine again with same initial deposit .
If I go up again . I repeat . If go down down by half , I leave as quickly as possible so I don%26#39;t see the next person hit . LOL
Drake--I wondered if I had kept playing if that would%26#39;ve happened also. I have practiced the method cashing out AND staying at a machine since this incident and it does seem to hit repeatedly.
luv- rest assured that the RNG (random number generator=computer chip) changes thousands of times between ';pulls';....be happy w/ the $100
#1 rule for me is to never spend a penny on slots
I was ecstatic about the two $100 wins until I saw the other woman hit. I know, I know, I should%26#39;ve moved completely away from that machine. I was waiting on my friend at the players card counter so I didn%26#39;t move very far.
The woman actually ran over to me %26amp; told me she hit. I was happy for her.....just PO%26#39;d at myself because normally I would%26#39;ve stayed %26amp; played some more.
I was thinking, ';hubby is right!...cash out %26amp; walk away';....then that happened! Go figure....lol.
You would not have hit that jackpot if you had stayed. From all that I have read, things change hundreds or even thousands of times each SECOND so the chances of you hitting her jackpot were slim to none. I don%26#39;t think there is any right answer as to when to walk away. On my last trip I hit a RF in three different casinos ($1000 each )-each time with $40 in the machine. I took $100 from that first RF and put it in the dollar machine. It was gone in less than a minute! I was done gambling at that point (it was about 2 AM anyway).
The 1st rule of gambling is (or most definitely should be) KNOW the game your playing. For Table games you should know the odds, the bets you can make etc. For slot machines you should have a good understanding of how the random number generator works. I believe there is a fairly comprehensive article about it on Wizardofodds.com
Chances are had you been the one to stay at the machine you wouldn%26#39;t have won the progressive unless you pulled the handle at the exact same milisecond that the person who won did. Don%26#39;t beat yourself up, you did good.
