Imperial Palace or Riviera

We have comped rooms at the IP and Riviera available for March 6 for four nights, which would you stay at? We have stayed at both, most recently the Ip and enjoyed our stay there contrary to the reviews we%26#39;ve read here. Haven%26#39;t stayed at the Riv for a couple of years. Please don%26#39;t say don%26#39;t stay at either as the rooms are free and we will be picking one so only want constructive opinoons please. Also, we have played with a payer%26#39;s card, though not much, and have in the past received offers from Harrah%26#39;s for two comped nights. Do you think it would do any good, since they own the IP, to ask them if they would comp us four nights?

Thanks.

If you don%26#39;t mind me asking how did you get 4 nights comped at IP if you don%26#39;t use the players card much. I stay at the IP twice a year and use the players cards always get the room comped when I leave but never have I had a mailer to say that I have so many nights comped...

I would stay at the IP but just my opinion as I really enjoy it there plus easy access to anywhere on the strip.

thanks

Hey, free is free. Go with IP simply for the location. And you%26#39;re right, the tie-in with Harrah%26#39;s can only help. The Riv isn%26#39;t tied in with anyone else, far as I know. I like the ';Old School'; feel of the Riv%26#39;s casino, but that%26#39;s it. IP has a great location Center Strip, easy walking distance to a lot of other casinos. The Riv will be even more isolated in March with the Ho already gone and the %26#39;Dust biting the dust in a few months.

tigger - I meant we hadn%26#39;t used Harrah%26#39;s card that much, used the IP card yhe whole time we played and stayed there, love their comp system.

strip cruiser - so do you think that Harrahs will take over (when they get rid of the IP) and offer the IP customers comps at other locations, similar to what the Riv did for the Westward Ho people?

I%26#39;m not sure Harrah%26#39;s has annouced their ';Grand Plan'; for the IP, Flamingo, Bally%26#39;s and, of course, Harrah%26#39;s. Part of it is contingent on them getting the Barbary Coast from Boyd. They keep saying a big announcement is coming by the end of September. If I were a gambling man, and let%26#39;s face it, I am, I%26#39;d say the odds favor the implosion of the IP sometime in the next 18 months. Harrah%26#39;s does know marketing well and will no doubt try to bring as many players into their sphere of influence as possible. I didn%26#39;t know the Riv did that for ex-Ho customers-smart move on their part. I heard recently that Harrah%26#39;s now owns an option on that property, so the game of Monopoly goes on %26amp; on!
