~My Humble Middle Class LV Hotels Opinion~

Every time I read a hotel review on this forum I have to laugh because the comments range from crappy, dirty, don%26#39;t stay here....to it%26#39;s nice, clean, great hotel!

For myself, I live in a small town in Indiana. The median cost for a house is $65,000. The median income level is $38,000. Only the doctors and lawyers and corporate execs own beautiful homes. Just about everyone else lives in middle income homes.

With that in mind, my opinion of a hotel is going to be wayyyyyy different than someone from the BIG $$$ city. I%26#39;m not used to a glamorous day to day life.

I%26#39;m sure if I made ';six figures';, I would not want to stay anywhere but top of the line, but truly, how many rich people are going to frequent a forum asking these questions??? They are just going to book the latest ritzy hotel without hesitation.

Almost every hotel on the strip OR even Fremont Street are acceptable to me, even though I prefer some over others....and believe me, I do not go with low expectations. It%26#39;s Las Vegas for gawds sake!

Thanks luvy. I agree with you wholeheartedly, but then again I%26#39;m from a small town in Ohio so no grand expectations from me either.

I%26#39;m not rich either...but I can%26#39;t imagine buying a house for $65 000. I%26#39;m from the Vancouver, BC area and I don%26#39;t think that you could buy a storage unit here for that much.

i sometime laagh when i read some reviews. i would love to see these folks houses! i am sure they go with plans to pull the place apart and find something to complain about!

on a side note $65 grand for a house is cheap!

Yes, $65 grand is cheap for a house.....which leads to why I will not pay luxury hotel prices...I could make a house payment!!

A garage by us is more than 65 grand. Man I hate New York sometimes :)

Just beacuse one has money does not mean you cannot be well informed on where and how to spend your money when travelling.

Smart spending is oneway to eventually gets wealthy...

No problem with that but my point is that snubbing perfectly fine hotels on this board because you are used to a higher lifestyle, can be misleading.

Interesting post. I sometimes sense a snobbery on this site. I make a decent middle class living and do not like to spend a lot of $ on a hotel. Sometimes I feel embarrassed to admit that we actually enjoy the vegas buffets---horrors!

I prefer to spend my $ on gambling and shows and going more often. To each his own.

Unlike you though, I cannot say that ';almost every hotel'; would be acceptable. I want the best in my price category and it absolutely must be clean! I have learned so much on this site. While I%26#39;m not likely to stay at the Wynn or Bellagio, I am very interested in comparing reviews of the Mirage and MC and Bally%26#39;s. Also, it helps me immensely to know that Main Street Station and the Golden Nugget are better bets than Binions or LV Club. I know to stay away from Circus Circus, the IP is dicey, and Excalibur is over run with kids. All of this information helps in making decisions.

Agreed Jillee--

I am being comped rooms on our upcoming stay and I was able to choose from 6 Harrah%26#39;s properties. I have compared many Vegas hotels. I want to stay where I feel we will get the most variety out of our trip since we have stayed in Vegas previously. To rephrase my previous statement....I would stay almost anywhere on the strip or Fremont if it were comped. Otherwise I like to make choices according to what I want to spend, also.

I can only give opinions on places I have stayed. So far that being IP, Excalibur, Bally%26#39;s %26amp; Four Queens. I have seen horrid reviews of all 4 of them! They just are not horrid places to stay.

I am getting ready to stay at the Rio and Hilton and also have read terrible things about them. I don%26#39;t know what people expect. EVERY dammmn hotel I have stayed in is supposedly terrible! lol

When smeone asks for hotel recommendations, maybe they could state where they have felt comfortable staying at other destinations. I mean, are you a Red Roofer, Holiday Inn, Marriott chains, Hilton.

No sense recommending the Bellagio or Wynns to someone who likes Rodeway Inn.
