Ok I am back from my annual DH and Me vacation!!!
Left from Newark on Tuesday August 15 --arrived in LV around 10 pm. rented a car with Hertz.. got a great internet deal for a convertable mustang for 1 day rate of $42.00 (plus taxes fees, gas,,,,etc) when we went to pick up the rental.. they were all out of mustangs they had a miata.. which we declined. They were really short on cars (a lot of people optioned to keep their cars longer. So our final choice was between a Jaguar S type or Hummer (small one) we took the Jag ony becasue the Hummer gets 10 miles to the gallon and we were planning a long road trip for the next day.
We checked into TI that evening. I received a promotion from casino marketing. 3 comp nights, $50 food and bev comp and if I gambled min of $25 per hand (rated) for two hours I would receive $400 in promo trips. Check in was a breeze (11pm ) we were given a NS K on the 26th floor. with a great view of the strip! We headed straight to bed since the next day was to be a long day in UTah.
We woke at 3:30 am and headed to Zion National Park in Utah. The trip is a little under 3 hours to get to --however you lose an hour due to time zone change. We were going to go horseback riding at 9:00am which I prepaid for. We got to the canyon and preceded to the corral to get to the horses. My husband is alomst 6%26#39;3'; and not fat by any means. He was asked to step on a scale. in whcih he came to 222. The woman said he was not allowed to go because he was over 220. I looked at the scale and noticed that the scale was on the 5 pound line. and asjked her to ajust to zero ...she refused. she stated that she adjusts to her wight based on her scale at home--since that one was right.. I was beyond furious. I understand rules and follow most of them. But when you scale is not set to zero and someone is barely over that amount.. you refuse....come on. I she handed me my money back ($130) and we went back to the lodge to figure out what to do. After about 15 minutes a being PO%26#39;d we looked at the trail maps and decided to make the best of the day. We walked a 2.5 mile hike through the emerald pools. a 2 mile riverside hike and a 2 mile scenic view hike. They were all magneficant! The canyon is breathtaking and quiet.. The trails (other than the riveside--which is paved so easy for strollers and wheelchairs) were deserted. We finished hiking around 2 pm and headed back to LV.
Stopped in Mesquite NV for lunch at a local casino. DH had 3 huge pancakes, 3 pieces of sausage and 3 eggs for $3.99 I had a chicken sanwhich and a side salad for $5.00. Really really good.
headed to VOF for drive thru ---stop took some pictures.. loved. it.. It is really small and I could not see spending more than the Then headed to Green Valley Ranch to check out the property. My husband like the show on Bravo (?) so he wanted to see th casino.. He loved it .. Nice grounds.. pool was nice. Casino great. they had a great buffet $16.00 with their players card.crab legs and good deserts... We would like to come back and stay a few nights next time we are in town.
Oh returnrd car to a whooping $150.00 bill (we pre-paid gas--it was cheaper they charged $2.99 whereas most places were charging $3.17) all the taxes and fees were about $60. It was rediculous.
TI --room was clean and had a great view of the strip. Housekeeping only puts two towels in a king size room. Had to request more (I need to cover the floors of the bathroom-Hate cold wet feet.) Casino was busy at 4 am in the morning and I gambled to about 7 am at $25 a hand to get rated.. lost $75.00 on black jack in those three hours. PLEASE NOTE: many of the stip hotels (WYNN to MB) have gone on the continuous shuffle machine on the main floors. Shoes are being used in only in the High roller rooms.
Hubby awoke and we had breakfast at the buffet.. It was ok. nothing to fancy. but it was good.
Got my promotional chips 4-$100 chips. sat back down at the blackjack table and hit black jack every time.. turning the chips into $550 real $$$$. yeah...
Dinner at Prime to celebrate my anniversary. I had a shrimp appitizer ($22) and DH had a Caesar Salad ($12) both excellent. DH had the Peppercorn strip with baked potato ($40) and I had the short ribs ($36) we each had one glass of wine. meal was very good. However, Delmonicos is still our favorite. Bill with Tip was $190.00
Friday morning checked out of TREasure Island --total charges to the room $14.. Thats it.
Checked into Bellagio for Friday-Monday stay..Were able to check in right away. I requested a room in the spa tower (because of the closet) We had a ';partial view'; --more like a full view.. We saw everything. room was spacious and very clean. bed is the best in vegas. Service was beyond exceptional. Pool staff fantastic. Cocktail service, Rate for 3 nights was $587.00 plus tax total....went through casino marketing for rate- had a birthday promotion that also included the buffet free one night and $50 in free play.. Spent Friday buying tee shirts and key chains for kids who were at home. Had dinner at buffet. Loaded up on sushi and apiece of lamb..saved room for dessert. Wanted a creme brulee real bad but again.. Some people took 10 of them each. rude rude rude. Skipped desert. had the Bellagio drink special real good.
As always this buffet is one of the best.
Went to MB dinking ---too much drinking. Headed to 40 Duece. Was ok.. the club is very very small. and drinks were pricey. hung out there for about an hour... headed back to the BEllagio.
There is one thing to say about drinking too much... you want to die the next morning....so needless to say I swore off drinking again...
Had dinner at L%26#39;Alterier de RObouchon at MGM ---chose the Discovery Menu (pre fix)--this 9 course meal of slivers of the full size portions allows you to taste some his signature dishes at $129 per person... I choose this menu-- and begged my DH to order off the regular menu.. he wouldn%26#39;t Although the food was very very good. The service was very good as well and the casual atmophere was very refreshing.. (I had on a skirt and nice top --hubby had on golf shirt and nice jeans) The majority of the food did not have that WOW factor. which I will fully expect for that price. Again if someone goes.. the main menu was pricey bu you get full portions and they looked great. Bill with 3 drinks and tip $350.
Saw KA...HATED IT! It was not a traditional Cirque show. there were no acrabatics.. It was a story...Music was bad and the choreography was non-existent. the stage turns into a ';plinko board'; and actors go up and down it....The last fw scenes were good. there was some acrobatics But I will never recommend this show to anyone who likes cirque...ever. there were about 15 couples who walked out sometime during the show.
Highlight of my dining came on Sunday. Ihad enough reward points on my harrah%26#39;s card to have the sterling brunch!! The lobster, oysters, lamb, omlette, derserts, shrimp, clams, salads, lobsters, sushi were all out of this world. I must have drank 6 glasses a champagne. Service was spotty but who cares......the food was incredibe. I normally dont like broiled lobster since they tend to be dry---this was so moist, and banana foster, tapioca pudding, chocolate souffles wow wow wow. Normally a $65.00 per person brunch.. Free and for all those who asked ..they do not charge tax if you are using your comps.
Checked out Monday morning.. bill for room was $660. total.
We are already looking forward to our next trip next year. (I will be back there in four weeks for a business meeting.
TI / Bellagio Trip reportWow, I would have been so angry about the horseback ride! I hope you wrote a letter to someone in charge about that?
Green Valley Ranch is such a nice property. We stayed there for two comped nights once and it was splendid. Used to be my favourite property in Vegas unil Red Rock opened.
TI / Bellagio Trip reportVery nice report.
Have to agree with lilbunnygirl regarding the horseback riding. If nothing about weight limits was mentioned when you booked the service, I%26#39;d be beyond furious at the set of circumstances you described. Although I%26#39;d most likely regret it later, I%26#39;d probably be tempted to do something childish like get naked in an attempt to make weight. I mean, if they didn%26#39;t mention a weight limit, I%26#39;m sure there was no stated rule against nude horseback riding ;^)
atj
No-- it was mentioned and we were very well aware of it.. At home he was 215. and I have my scale about 3 pounds over. what aggrevated me is that they had the scale set 5pounds over and would not adjust it to zero. I could care less about horses. This was his fathers day present.. so he was very upset at that time.. but we went hiking and he had some on the best views that you would never see on horseback. so the hiking made up for it..
You could care less about the horses? What a terrible thing to say. Why would you want to go ride a horse if you could care less about them? I am biased because I do own horses, but horse owner or not they are still living creatures..
Heres the thing..
1. It%26#39;s the lady%26#39;s horses, if she doesn%26#39;t feel it is safe to let someone ride the horses, that is her call. (It is just as unsafe for the horse as it is for the rider if the horse and rider are missized)
2. She gave you your money back, weight restrictions by the way are quite common. If your husband is 215 (maybe you did this) you should have told them ahead of time to make sure there is a suitable mount available. Then the whole situation could have been avoided.
3. Why should she risk a horse for 1 ride, if the horse turns up sore after someone too big has ridden it, shes left holding the bag on the lost revenue she could have made using that horse on other trail rides.
She was doing you a favour, it could have been very dangerous for him to ride. Perhaps it ruined fathers day, but it could have been a lot worse.
I give total props to the lady at the trail riding place if only every trail operator took such care in their clients and horses. Its nice to hear there are still people out there like that.
vent over.. haha
The rest of your report was great! Thanks for posting!
great tr. sounds like you had fun (minus the horse incident). great info about the sterling brunch as that is one of the places we plan on going to when we visit.
one question. i know you can use the rewards card but how many pts is it per person? would you happen to know. the only thing i find on the harrahs site is just general info.
thanks.
fun-
I abolsutely care about the welfare of all living creatures. I personally don%26#39;t like to ride horses-- this was for my husband, not me. As I previously posted I understand and respect the weight limit she had set forth. What you are missing is that the scale was clearly marked 5 pounds over. He weighed himself numerous times prior to the trip(with clothes on) --the fact that the scale was not set to zero is what ticked us off. We made sure that we were in compliance with all their rules. We made the absolute best of the day the hikes to the tops of the cliffs and the pools were better than being down in the valley .
it is 6500 points per person. 13000 for the brunch for 2. No tax if completely comped.
thanks for the info pmleich.
