Me an hubby...middle thirties, proffessional couple. Hes a fireman, I%26#39;m a project assosciate. We likr the good life when we travel so this tim we thought we%26#39;d try out the V. Here goes!
We ended up booking Southwest because it saved us just over $100/ticket. Using suggestions here I printed BPs ahead. But missed my windiw and just got %26#39;B%26#39;. Limo picked us up from home at 4:30 am so we could to the airport by 6 (60 - 80 min drive). Got to the airport really fast, through curcbside checkin in about 10 and through security in about 15. Since we had time to kill, we had a nice breakfats at Harry Carry%26#39;s restaurant.
Flight boarded a few minutes last but not bad. We had crappy seats all the way at the back. Between granny going to vegas to gamble away her social security check and the 10 screaming kids and the legit %26#39;A%26#39; boarders, there was nothing in the front or middle for that manner. Then for the next 3+ hours we hear already drunk people yelling and screaming,,,,it was very annoying that early in the morning. The stewardesses didnt seem to care.
SO the flight from there was uneventful. Landed a few minuutes ealy, collected our bags and took the shuttle to National. Since I am Emerald Aisle we just go right to ouy car. We rented a PT convertible, but there were none left. Well there was a beetle, but that wasnt the look I was hopin for. Anway, the nice lot attendant gave us a very nice cadillac CTS fully loaded.
From there we hop in and head down the strip to check out the changes. Tomorrows installment will contain, Venetion check in, upgrade, Penn %26amp; Teller, Titanic and large quantitied of booze
Trip Report - Venetian - 8/18-8/22 Part IYou write a list of problems and disturbances on your flight then say it was uneventful. Uh? Like previous post said, if you want a flight without drunks and lowlife then pay for it. I%26#39;m sure that %26#39;professionals%26#39; could stretch to that.
Trip Report - Venetian - 8/18-8/22 Part I
Why not use another airline and fly first class?
Umm! You say that you are a proffessional [sic] couple who like the good life when you travel, yet you went Southwest to save money!
Puzzled!
I fogot how there are people on this board who are such huge pains in the rear...thanks for the reminder. Second, I made the mistake of typing this first installment after being up for well over 36 hours. I should have waited, but I just couldn%26#39;t fall asleep after getting home. Spelling was the farthest thing from my mind. I have seen numerous typos from each of you - one of you seems particularly inept at times as well as completey rude and inappropriate in almost every post made. No surprise that it carried over to this one. I%26#39;m uncertain as to why I need to be attacked for a personal opinion when I have been nothing but pleasant to others on this forum.
As for my travel opinions...wanting to not having people literally screaming behind me does not make me a snob. It makes me normal. An ocassional outburst of laughter or a few moments of loud conversation every once in a while is one thing, But for 3 hours and 20 minutes? Literally. And yes - aside from that - I listed no other complaints so to say that the flight aside from that was uneventful was correct. I am not a snob - I just like to be comfortable. This is supposed to be a forum where people can express opinions and let other like-minded travelers know what their experience was. There may be others who do not appreciate screaming 20 year olds and crying kids...I feel it appropriate to point it out to those who are looking for such information.
I chose Southwest partially because of a $$ savings and partially because of some reviews here. In my opinion that was not the right choice for me. And just because one has money and flies in first class - it neither makes them first class nor well behaved. I feel justified in my opinions and stick by them. I also stick by my opinions of the previous responders here...I just choose not to post them. THAT would be rude and snobbish.
JM265 - Maybe I should have clarified - I don%26#39;t take into account the mode of transport in our trips. Whether its by car, rail or air - it doesn%26#39;t really matter. Its the ending destination that we like to be comfortable in. The method of transport is just an end to a means. However - that doesnt excuse rude behavior. People can still be courteous to others around them irregardless of how much they spend or what airline they fly.
04- a firefighter who does the job as their main ';profession';...is just that - a professional. You can have a variety of occupations viewed as professionals. He has served his department for 15 years, has a degree and routinley helps jerks similar to some of those here. According to Webster%26#39;s:
having a particular profession as a permanent career %26lt;a professional soldier%26gt;
Anyone else want to jump on the ';knock me down'; bandwagon for no reason?
Wow, such criticism. guess we will never see parts 2 and .... which would be a shame. What is with people here. My momma told me if you don%26#39;t have something nice to say....................... zip the lip.
SftbllHuny,
Wow. Did you take it on the chin. You must have caught grouchy readers on a bad night.
I%26#39;d still like to hear your report on the Titanic. Did you go into the Bodies exhibit.
By the way, I love Southwest. Easy on, easy off - on time! And cheap. The crew may look casual but they take their work seriously. And, most importantly, they have a darn good safety record.
