First time to Vegas! Help!

My wife and I are attending a conference in Vegas -- our first trip. Our free time is limited because of the conference so we%26#39;ll have 1-1/2 to 2 days free and 3 of the 4 nights are free. I have two questions:

1) Our first day in Vegas we want to get as much out of it as we can but don%26#39;t know where to begin during the day. Walk the strip?

2) I thought our typical evening would be dinner and a show but I find that most restaurants don%26#39;t open til 5:30 or 6:00 and the shows start at 7:30. I realize that one can go to shows at 10:30 but honestly by then I%26#39;ll be dragging! Do we have to basically choose to do one or the other --- a show OR dinner out?

Appreciate the help.

Wow it is nice to have someone to share first time in LV-

Fiirst off- if you are tacking a taxi from the airport tell the driver- ';Do not take the Tunnel'; you do not want to be on the freeway unless you are staying north of TI.

Exhibits- Bodies in Motion- Tropicana 1-2 hrs to view- Human Physiology- get discount off coupons in LV magazines.

Shows- 5 or 530 Pm '; The Fab Four'; they are the best Beattles singers I have ever heard- They are in the Desert Passage ';V'; Theatre.

Food-

Mon AmiGabi- Lunch in the Paris hotel

Grand Lux- Venitian

California Pizza Kitchen- I recommend only the Salads. Mirage hotel

Paris- Buffet for Breakfast Only

Margarittaville- next to Flamingo- great pulled pork sandwich-Carribean style, very tender.

In order for us to help you, a bit more information would be great.

Where are you staying?

Will you have a car?

What time do you arrive?

We%26#39;ll try to help once we know a bit more!

First of all welcome to the LV forum...

Secondly...unless you are going to LV to count pennies, don%26#39;t worry about something as insignificant as whether the cab takes the tunnel or not....that is one of the least important things to concern yourself with.

You don%26#39;t say where you are staying but I am going to guess somewhere on the strip.

Absoulutely if this is your first trip, walk/wander the strip and the various hotels/casions...I have been to LV a bunch of times and it is still one of my favorite things to do.

There are a gazillion places to dine beforre or after a show so don%26#39;t think you need to choose between a show and dinner.

If you are looking for a traditional LV casino show, you could do lots worse than Bally%26#39;s Jubilee...music, dancing, showgirls...traditional Vegas.

Finally if you are looking for some other show try the 1/2 price tix places the day of the show...anyone at your hotel will point you to one but if not, for sure there is a 1/2 price place at the big Coke Bottlle (Coca-Cola World) on the strip...

Relax, enjoy, have a great time...LV is hard to beat...

We%26#39;re staying at Bally%26#39;s because the conference is there. We won%26#39;t have a car and we arrive on a Wednesday late evening. Leaving early Monday morn. Thursday is our big open day because the conference doesn%26#39;t start til Friday. Sunday is pretty well open during the day as well.

Jubilee is on our list of shows to see -- the quintessential Vegas show.

Thanks for your help!

I have stayed at Bally%26#39;s twice and it is a good choice.

Excellent location on the strip, large rooms and easy to navigate casino. It is attached to Paris so you can move from one to another without going outdoors....

Lots to see in any direction from Bally%26#39;s.

Just popping and and out of the casinos to see the various attractions should take a big chunk of your time. Be sure to see the Bellagio fountains at least once after dark and then go see the conservatory. If you happen to be near the Mirage you can watch the volucano erupt (every hour) but it really isn%26#39;t worth going out of your way to see. Avoid the TI Siren show. The Titanic exhibit is good. Most of the shows are 90 minutes long so you would have no problem eating after the show with a reservation. Or you could try eating at a buffet that opens early- everyone one should do this at least once since it is such a Vegas-y thing to do. I saw O, Love and Mystere. I liked Mystere best but you should like Love if you are a Beatles fan. Even the $69 tickets are good. Have fun!
