Why not take the Duece( a double decker bus) buy a ticket for $5.00, can use it for 24hrs. it stops along the strip and takes about 20 min. to get you downtown....otherwise it will probably cost about 15.00 to go downtown by cab.....and thats just oneway.

If you do take a cab, watch out for scummy cab drivers who will try to rip you off. There are many like this in Vegas.

We have done this several times and i am guessing that it was around $10-$12 maybe. Just dont try to walk it. Its not that its really far, just not very safe.

I remember it being $10-15 depending on how busy the roads are. Some drivers are insane (we once had a driver who sped up and laughed/cackled upon seeing the terrified looks on our faces) but we%26#39;ve mostly had wonderful experiences. My favourites are the ones that don%26#39;t try to rip you off by taking the busiest (and most expensive) routes.

Years ago I remember boarding a Greyhound charter-type bus right on the strip (bought our tickets from the driver) and just showed our tickets to the next driver to return from downtown. Is there anything like this still available?

Take the Deuce bus with an all day ticket.

It all depends n where you start off from on the Strip.

For the Deuce from the the south end say the Luxor you have to traverse on of the most crowded roads in the US next to Manhattan.

Mid Strip, less so and from the Strat is is not very busy at all.

Same for a taxi, but then you can take other streets like Paradise and avoid the congestion of Las Vegas Blvd. a/k/a the Strip.

My advice: Take the Deuce one way to Downtown, ride up on top, expect it to take a while but you get a good view of the Strip and men%26#39;s combovers.

Later in the evening, you can hop in a taxi at any hotel, it is faster and some say safer but that also depends on whether the driver has a death wish or not. Again, take other streets like Paradise and NOT the Strip. FYI - All the casinos have service streets that feed from these streets to their entrances.

You will enjoy Downtown. What are your plans?

going to the golden nugget, and deep fried twinkies!

I envy you.

Golden Nugget, watch out for some constructiom

Get Twinkies at Mermaids, beads are included.

I like the old time piano player at the Golden Gate.

The second floor balcony at the Fitz is a good place to see the light show, google ';Fremont Street Experience'; for the schedule.

Free or 1 drink min shows abound.

I prefer Downtown since everything is so close together.

Many bars and places to eat everything from Subway and McDonalds to fine dining and steak houses.

For a walk on the wild side try this walking tour, safer during day light hours.

Enjoy.

schubob,

We recently took a taxi from the Mirage to Golden Nugget.....cost was a few pennies over $13.

Why not take the monorail to the end and then grab the local bus, might be cheaper than a cab
